I'm thinking about giving my shoulder a break, it's not what it used to be. I'm thinking about the PC random orbit. How many out there have them? Do you like them , where did you get them, cost ect. Thanks
I went with the Flex 3401 from http://autogeek.net/, a forum sponsor. Check out their website they have lots of package specials for the PC and many other polishers. They have a wealth of knowledge on their website

That's the one I was getting, but haven't as of yet.
I also went with AutoGeek.net and got a Porter Cable 7424XP, best move I could have made. No more worn out arms and sore shoulders. I got mine on sale in a kit with pads and free shipping, I think the kit is on sale from time to time.
I have 3 polishers... PC7424, PC7424XP and Griot's 6" polisher.
The PC's are some of the most dependable machines on the planet. I completely trust their reliability and wouldn't be afraid to tackle the most serious swirl marks with them.
But............. If you want twice as much power, polishing in half the time, for nearly the same price, with a LIFETIME warranty, I'd recommend the Griot's.
It is a WORK-HORSE! I've put over 100 pounds of pressure on this machine and couldn't make the pad stop spinning. It will kick some serious butt. I rank it right up there with the Flex. I don't own the Flex, but I've used one, and the Griots is nearly as good for much less money.

Are they used only for swirl mark removal and polishing or can they be used for applying and buffing out wax as well? Any tricks to know to avoid paint damage?

Porter Cable 7424, I have had it for years and it is very good and dependable. Read up on the different types of pads to get (Lake Country it excellent) as they make "cutting pads" for removing scratches and swirls, polishing pads, light cutting pads, etc.
Look around and you can find some good prices and I'd check some online auction sites as well.
