I saw this kit in an auto parts store on Sunday, it was called "black box" and I think it was that same thing...the guy at the store was telling me everything in the kit was black, even the applicator pads
Pros
1) give's an amazing DEEP and WARM shine that is second to none given it's only 2 steps process (compared to zaino which requires many steps)
2) complete kit, everything needed is there
3) most importantly it covers blemishes, scratches, and imperfections
4) the precleaner acts like a clay bar, and picks up imperfections
cons
1)it's a LONG process. Depending on humidity the cleaner wax and the wax itself is a PITA to remove. You'll end up going through at least 3-4 microfiber rags. These rags will have to be thrown away, especially the cleaner rags. The wax rags can actually be used daily with the spray that comes with it. But it gets your hands dirty
2) it will stain your hands, shirts, shorts, anything it touches. It's a dyed wax. Will stain your cement as well. Will also discolor weatherstripping, although i had success with 303 bringing them back.
3)it only lasts about 3 weeks MAX. And that's for a garage queen.
4) does not have that "slick" feeling.
5) you'll continue to scrub off wax streaks days/weeks after using it. Although they are hard to see initially, you'll eventually see the ones you missed and it takes some scrubbing to get it off.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I've actually abandoned it, primarily b/c it's so hot outside right now that I just can't stand doing a 5-7 hr job that this stuff requires.
Thanks for all of the info - I haven't opened the kit so I will be taking it back for a refund. I don't even like the sound of dyed wax!
Don't be discouraged by the negatives. It does have a few positives that may be beneficial. I have a large variety of polishes and waxes. Sometimes the paint calls for one over the other.
The black box stuff is useful before car shows when I don't have the time to buff out swirl marks.
IT MADE A BIIIIIG MESS!!! LOL Thats all I can say from when I used it :/ so it sits in the garage now... but over all it did give a DEEP WET LOOK.. * on the driveway as well as the car * LOL
I had a black car recently, and often used a tinted black wax/chip stick with dynamite results. That said, I only used the chip stick and wax on small road chipped areas on the front of the car. It lasted 3-4 washes, but I used Zaino for the rest of the car. If you're looking for a less risky way to fill small chips or scratches than touch up, I'd recommend it in a second.
rpm94, you had a bad experience with turtle wax ice? I have used it twice on a Cyber Gray coupe and it seemed easy to use. Don't know how long it would last on a DD.
I used the Turtle Wax Black and it did a very good job on my Black C-6. It did not last very long but I was pleased. I just used Meguiars Yellow wax and I am a serious fan now. Also, can anyone tell me what is the procedure for changing driving light bulbs???? you can hit me at kingofabar@gmail.com as well. Thanks.
