Default simple question?

How come when I close the rear hatch I have to push it closed and sometimes it clicks and pulls itself closed? I really can't figure this out. My vette is black and I hate to leave fingerprints on it when I have to really push the lid down. Surely there is something I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for any input.

make sure go give the lid enough down force to catch and pull down the rest of the way.

You just haven't had enough practice yet to know how much force you have to pull it down with for it to catch.

I've had my 06 C6 for 4 years now and mine will catch about 99 times out of 100.

I have the same problem but have not had the time to look at it. I assume you have a car with a power pull down. It appears that at times either the pull down does not come up when the hatch opens or it comes up and goes right back down. Other times it will just work the way it should.

Curious if anyone has an answer.

Bugs me too. What they should have done is cause the front windows to index down whenever the hatch is opened. That way, when you close the hatch, you aren't fighting air pressure inside the car. Once the hatch is closed and latched, then the windows could index back up again.

I have the same, the pull down works 99 out of 100. When I release the back it really POPS like it was really tight. Does that happen with you guys?

with window slightly down it's a very easy push down to get it latched properly.... windows up you kind of have to slam it!

Have you tried adjusting the two (2) black rubber "bumpers" located at the back corners of the hatchback? My '10 GS was exhibiting a similar problem and I fiddled with the bumper on each corner until I was satisfied with the hatch closure.
FWIW. . .

ON my 08 I lower gently and push down gently and it pulls down tight. No slamming or jamming.

I usually have one of the two doors open then all you have to do is lay the hatch down lightly. Just a light touch.
