Third brake light question

Default Third brake light question
I was recently cruising in the company of three other C6 buddies, two 05's and one 06. (Mine is an 07) Anyway one of the guys noticed that my third brake light is color coded to my paint job (MR) and all of theirs were a black plastic piece. Question arose was this an option or did they start this with the 07's and since I'm the second owner I didn't know.

Color = aftermarket.

The painted spoilers are also a GM dealer installed option(or you can order it through your dealer and install it youself) as well as the aftermarket.
