Anyone know how to turn on Ignition on without starting the engine? I have tried to use the scanner , but the ignition has to be on without the engine running.
Capt Bob
Another unofficial way to do it is to push the top of the start switch as you normally would to start the engine, but don't push the clutch in.
If you do that method, make sure you have the transmission in neutral in case your clutch switch isn't set up properly!!
Over the years I've read of a couple times that service guys have reached in while standing outside the car and pushed the start button to have the starter engage and jerk the car forward. One report was of a car in a showroom that had that occur!!!
Scroll down to post# 5 for a link to a map of the location, but it's just east off I-4 exit 101. If you're in town next Saturday you should try to drive down to Sanford to that very nice get-together!!! Hope to c'ya Saturday!
No, I don't think that works with the auto....just hold the bottom of the button for 10 secs or so until the ignition comes on... this will work for sure.
I have auto trans, do I just push the start switch without stepping on the brake?
Capt Bob
No, it will just get annoyed and tell you to step on the brake.
As mentioned above, push the bottom of the ign switch like you are going into Accessory, but hold it for about 10 seconds. When finished with whatever work you are doing, push the bottom of the switch again.
