Had Venture shield installed on a GS in April. Drove the car on a 1000 mile round trip to Road America. Washed the car and the bug splatter does not come off. The bug splatter leaves a smudge mark that I cannot remove. Tried wax, Meguiar's detail spray, Stoner Invisible Glass, and Meguiar's polish on a few small spots. I know about Plexus but do not have any. Not sure what else to use. I am wondering if the film is etched.
Any suggestions? The car has 2 coats of Rejex on it.
I keep a good coat of Rejex on mine. I use a product that I got in Aviation called "That Bug Stuff" that works great. In a pinch you can use a dampened dryer sheet - like Bounce.
I had the 3M product installed on my car a few months ago. I think that they suggested 70% rubbing alcohol. I would not try in on your film without checking or trying on an area that does not show. Hope that this helps.
If the bug guts were on the your plastic shield for a long time without being washed, they can "etch" into the plastic. (paint too!)
I would try a fine plastic polish like Meguiars PlastX plastic cleaner and polish.
Venture Shield can also be polished by machine, being careful not to get too aggressive or use too much pressure. I've polished the 3M Clear-Bra with the Griots polisher/White pad/Meguiars M205/Speed 3-4/very light pressure.

Freind.. if you had built up coats of Zaino, it would be no prob at all...... seriously. Been there with my 97 Comp TA's custom 3m stripes... same material. Maybe if you get them all off you might want to try that
wash the car, use lighter fluid to get the nose bug smudge free, wash the car again for the hell of it, wax thin layer, add a 2nd thin layer of wax....spray your tires with Black Magic Tire Spray...Spray your Wheels with Armor Wheel Protectant....let sit for 2hrs in a cooled garage
Stash cleaning supplies in one of two rear cubbyholes...a few newspapers, and of course, a microfiber towel for the body, and one for the wheels

Not to jump in on this thread, but, is the lighter fluid safe to use on the clear bra/ventureshield.? thanks!

I have the 3M and the Rubbing Alcohol worked for me.
DO NOT USE lighter fluid or rubbing alchohol on VentureShield. It will damage the film. I highly recommend using this product for your film. its LP Aero Plastics polish/sealant and it is the best product out there for film.
Look I am a big beleiver in Zaino as well but I have tested this product by pouring used motor oil on an old hood that had film wrapped on it. Every area had different waxes, Zaino, and this polish on it and after two weeks of baking in the sun this product is the only one that did not allow the oil to stain the film. I give a bottle out now with all of my installs... and I have been putting film on for about 7 years now. Keep a couple of coats on there and never worry about it again. I have also polished out tire scuff marks on film with this... so its good stuff. One bottle will last you forever.
For you 3M users, this product works very well on your film too. Please do not recommend to anyone to use rubbing alchohol on VentureShield, or any other film than 3m, anymore. Its ok to dab it on to soak out bug stains... but you cant rub the film with alchohol as it will ruin the finish. And lighter fluid??? Really??? Best advice is to ALWAYS ask your installer. Had a client came to me and said he used lighter fluid on his film I would have said "sorry your screwed".
Bought Meguiar's Plastx polish. It did not remove the smudge marks from the bug splatter. The most aggressive product I tried was Meguiar's Swirlx. It also did not remove the smudges. The film must be etched. I emailed the installer to see if he can fix this.
I knew I should have applied the 3M film. I work at 3M. The installer talked me out of the 3M film and into the Venture shield. Curious to know if the 3M film would have the same problem.
The car had 2 coats of Rejex on it before the trip. Bought C-Magic 2 weeks ago but have not applied it yet. I checked into Zaino a few months ago but was turned off by the 6-8 step initial application process. I certainly am reconsidering this decision. I will try to find Wolfdogs post. If I remember correctly he posted a thread about first time Zaino users.
