Default Headlight lense needs cleaning

Saw a thread on the forum some time back about carefully reaching inside the headlight assembly with a probe of some sort (probably a wire) with a cloth attached some and alcohol to remove the fog on the inside of the lense - can not find it again.

Have the wheels off and the rubber cover off from behind the headlight assembly. Also have the rubber cover off from the high beam bulb.

So, how does the high beam bulb come out? I read some posts that say there are two torx screws for that need to be removed on the low beams, but I don't see any at all for either the high or the low.

Since I have never removed any of the lights from the assembly, I'm not even sure that removing the bulb will allow access to the interior of the lense????

Or, do I need to remove the fender liner and go thru the Front Parking/Turn Signal socket?

Or, can you really get into the back of the lense this way???

TIA

The answer is, not really - you can get a wire with a small piece of rag attached inside (around the outside of the high beam enclosure/lense), but, there is not much maneuverability. A total PITA.

And, FWIW, the unit is not really sealed. Each of the bulbs has a rubber cover/gasket, but they are removable and presumably not absolutely airtight.

And has 2 filtered air vents for the heat to dissipate.

Here's a photo that shows you can get a wire with a rag into the light, but maneuvering it is a big PITA.

Looks impossible to clean that way.

I keep hoping in the years to come that someone will market a removeable lens version.

The only other thing I've read is to remove them and flush them out with some kind of cleaning fluids.

That might be the easiest way, but of course, then you have to loosen/remove everything, another major PITA - oh well..........
