I ordered a new center console a year ago and they threw in a gear shift boot to match the stitching of the console.I have taken my 08 vette to three mechanical shops and no one wants to touch it. Has anyone replaced their gear shift boot?Anyone know where I can have this done? I live in Huntington Beach Ca. Thanks,Jim
yep...I did mine on my '05. It really wasn't that difficult. Mine had a plastic ring with staples attaching the OEM boot. I just pulled the staples and replaced them. If I remember correctly, there are some instructions and pictures out in the Forum somewhere. You could check with DS Vettes or Carskinz...they likely have the formal instructions.

I also did mine myself. That describes it pretty well. Snapping the plastic ring back in was a bit tricky and took a few tries.
My car is an 08 automatic.the instructions from DS are for a manual transmission.Do the instructions remain the same for an 08 automatic? Thanks for the help.
If its an auto it is a bit of a pain. You have to glue the new boot in place. Do somemore searching there are a coupe of step by step instructions here. I did mine twice and I'm a big fat old man so it is do-able
