I needed one of those when I tried to do 90mph through the EZ pass lane on the toll road (without EZ pass)

who'd have thought a month later they'd mail you a pretty picture of your vehicle and a hefty fine? haha

Hey now !! There are nuclear power plants as well as nuclear bombs. How you use the device determines the result. I can see the use of such a device for other than illegal uses.

Please explain. What is the legitimate need for a device that conceals your plate while you are in the car and it is in motion.

There are already kits for quick detach plates to manually remove the entire plate for shows and such.

§ 1332. Display of registration plate.
(a) General rule.--Every registration plate shall, at all
times, be securely fastened to the vehicle to which it is
assigned or on which its use is authorized in accordance with
regulations promulgated by the department.
(b) Obscuring plate.--It is unlawful to display on any
vehicle a registration plate which:
(1) is so dirty as to prevent the reading of the number
or letters thereon at a reasonable distance;
(2) is obscured in any manner which inhibits the proper
operation of an automated red light enforcement system in
place pursuant to section 3116 (relating to automated red
light enforcement systems in first class cities); or
(3) is otherwise illegible at a reasonable distance or
is obscured in any manner.
(c) Penalty for obscured plate.--Any person who violates
subsection (b)(2) commits a summary offense and shall, upon
conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $100.
(Feb. 9, 2004, P.L.65, No.8)

If you are speeding or any other traffic offense and it was 'accidentally activated' you may have an additional issue.

§ 907. Possessing instruments of crime.
(a) Criminal instruments generally.--A person commits a
misdemeanor of the first degree if he possesses any instrument
of crime with intent to employ it criminally.

(d) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
subsection:

(1) Anything specially made or specially adapted for
criminal use.
(2) Anything used for criminal purposes and possessed by
the actor under circumstances not manifestly appropriate for
lawful uses it may have.

I can't see any legitimate purpose to this thing. And anyway; the front plate is what bothers most Corvette people. And running a power cover over it won't fix the problem.
