I noticed both headlights fog up at the leading edge of the headlamp then about 2"-3" back. Is that normal? It s really humid here and it was raining. Just curious if anybody else experianced this. I never noticed it before.
My problem has never gone away and the dealer says I need to replace them. Anybody heard of that? They stay permanently foggy.
Mine fog up when the temps drop and cut visibility. Tried to get them replaced under warranty but the GM engineers said they've never heard of this happening before so they declined it.
I bought this car a year ago and I thought it was the exterior so didn't question it when I bought it. Then they never cleared up and the dealer here at Keyes Chevy in Van Nuys said it was the inside and I had to replace the unit. Just trying to see if anyone else has changed the unit and got a better deal than the dealer.
Unless corvette lamp assemblies are different from other vehicles and I doubt they are, you can open them up by warming them in the oven and softening the glue that holds the plastic dome on. You will want to verify the details of the process by searching the web, but its something like 350 degrees for 20 mins, pull em apart, do what you need to do like cleaning or putting in angel eyes fluorescents, then heat em up again and put them back together.
I've done all of that before I went to the dealer and my repair shop. It will not leave. Been there for the year I have owned the car. Was there when I bought the car. Previous owner didn't say how long they had the fog

Some people have replaced a damaged lens instead of the expensive GM solution of buying a complete headlight assembly.
It can be done but the stories sound like a major PITA, and you need to do it just right or the lens comes loose later.
I had one lamp in my 07 doing it.
I live in Fl. So hot and humid.
GM Did replace the one headlight under warranty.
I had to push them a little, but they did it.
Is ask.. it won't hurt.
Good luck and happy motoring to you and your traveling buddy.

Is this covered by my warranty? Think I saw something about various insect related invasions?
Seriously though I hope it just finds its way into a place where I can't see it. It bothers me but not enough to change out a headlight, especially considering there's no fogging.
