I incorrectly posted this originally in the C5 section. Vetteman Jack brought it to my attention. I have a 2005 Corvette with 62,000 miles. I have been the only owner. I have heard some grinding when I make turns (differential?). I also recently noticed it was losing traction on wet surfaces (never did that before and tires have only 4,000 miles on them). I took it into the Chevrolet dealership and they suggested I change the cabin filter for $68.10, dual air filters on front engine for $89.96, front brakes (still original brakes) $360.09, transmission flush $193.86, fuel service cleansing $299.64, differential drain and replace with special additive for grinding $159,95 and new wipers for $76.35. I am suspicious of some of the pricing, recommendations and basis for the work. The wipers they suggested I install are only four months old. I sense they are trying to hose me. Any comments, suggestions on what I should do? I am having my wife contact our local Tire Kingdom franchise. They did some good work on her truck a while ago. Thanks for your assistance.......Larry Boecklen

This will likely fix your grinding noise. Brakes are reasonably due - and I would do front and rear. If you are handy, you can change the pads yourself. Filters - you can do yourself. Coolant is due at the five year mark and they didn't put that out there.
Wow, fuel service cleansing $299.64 (What is this?). That kinda bothers me! I don't see where any of this is dealing with "I also recently noticed it was losing traction on wet surfaces " except maybe the brake pads a little. Cabin air filter is less than $20 at auto parts store. Air filters were $7 a piece on sale at the same. Maybe wipers are special but I have never looked at them. My guess would be $10. There are some things you can do yourself with little effort. Changing the differential fluid is not hard, but I can understand some not wanting to go that route. Many of these things are covered in threads here. I would say they are charging you excessive corvette tax. Keep in mind that original GM filters are much higher than after market ones.
You took it in for the differential problem and if you don't do it yourself that's the only thing I would have them do. The rest is bs unless you check it out and find something that needs attention.

at 62K miles on an '05 there are many things that COULD be wrong, or COULD use changing. But as said above, if they aren't bothering you, then don't do it. that said, except for the fuel system cleaning (which your car might need), the other items may be needed, but you need to find that out.
where are you living? was this the only dealer in your area? do you have any Corvette specialty shops in your area?
as to your local tire kingdom, do they know Vettes? just because they do good work on a truck or some other make does not make them an expert on Vettes.
big test for them: ask them if they have "lifting pucks." See what they say.

It sounds like the diff, but I do not want to be a keyboard mech. I would maybe look at doing a drain and fill.
