Default Anyone Experience This Problem?

It appears my air bag readiness light is coming on while driving. It may stay on for a while and then go out, or it may come on and stay on most of the time.

I will take it in to be cvhecked, but has anyone experienced this and what was the cause? Thanks

I had this problem with my 08 - it was a passenger side sensor - dealer repaired while I waited. Good luck

Are we talking about the passenger light or I think there is another light that comes on if the drives side is not fully charged? Looked at the manual and you should have it checked out.

There is an airbag readiness light on the instrument panel
cluster, which shows the airbag symbol. The system
checks the airbag’s electrical system for malfunctions.
The light tells you if there is an electrical problem.
The system check includes the airbag sensor, the
pretensioners, the airbag modules, the wiring and
the crash sensing and diagnostic module.

That's weird. Mine warning light came on today at approximately the same time as your post. Drove car. Turned car off and restarted. Light went off for now. I will monitor...

Thanks

That's strange Rossi. I experienced the exact same thing on my '08.

Only the passenger Seat Belt Warning Light comes on, and stays on, when I accelerate HARD. When I turn the car off and restart, the system seems to reset itself and the light goes out......3 times today.

"Normal" driving seems not to affect it.

Guess I need to go to the dealer also.

Hello,

Your vehicle has a passenger sensing system for the
right front passenger’s position. The passenger
airbag status indicator will be visible in the rearview
mirror when you start your vehicle.
The words ON and OFF, or the symbol for on and off,
will be visible during the system check. When the
system check is complete, either the word ON or the
word OFF, or the symbol for on or the symbol for off, will
be visible. If there is no passenger it should stay on as off. See Passenger Airbag Status Indicator on
page 3-36 of your owners manual. Hope this helps!

If you move the driver's seat up and back alot, then it may be the connector under the seat is being stretched...this rarely happens with people who don't move the seat.

The dash airbag light on my '06 coupe will sometimes come on at times. Hasn't happened lately so had forgotten it. Guess I'll have to get it back to Mr. Goodwrench.
Will check the wire connection as Cclive suggests. Use the "exit" button everytime I get in or out.

I'm having the same problem on my '06 coupe. The airbag light on the dash will be on at times and off at other times, even during the same ignition cycle.

I've been having the same problem in my 06 vert. It seems to be worse when the car has been sitting in the heat with the interior being very hot. It goes out after it has cooled down somewhat. I've been procrastinating about taking it in. Seems so common that you'd think it would be a recall issue.

I have a 08, and had the same sensor as Rdnblack, only on the driver's side.

Easy replacement once they figure out which sensor it is.

Additional info. I've noticed that the light will go from on to off when I turn the steering wheel to turn a corner. Anyone else. I have the 3LT package, maybe it has something to do with the telescoping steering column.

My 09 comes on when I blow the horn for a few (more than a few) seconds continuously (when someone pulls out in front of me).

It then stays on until the car is re-started.

Default Airbag Light

Last April I had my 07 vette supercharged. On the way home my airbag warning light came on. I took it to the dealer, they cheerfully charged me $92.00 for disconnecting and reconnecting the sensor under the driver's seat. Turns out that a flux in the electrical current in the vehicle may cause the light to come on. Sort of a fail safe to be sure the airbags will work.
When I talked with the garage that installed my supercharger, they advised that they also installed a new battery. This was probably the culprit. I lack the skills to fool with the car, but I thought the $92 skins was a bit steep for about 15 minutes work. Hope this helps.

I had this problem for several years and could never get it to do it for the dealer. I did the under the seat connector thing with no luck. It would be okay for months and then start again. I finally called GM and a representative talked to the service manager. They then ask me to take it in again for further diagnoses. As luck would have it the CEL was on when I took it in. It was a defective seat tensioner. It was replaced about a year ago and I have had no further problems. The key was the CEL was on when I took it in. Apparently the times that it came on a code was not set or cycled off before I took it in.
