Trunk opens by it's self

Not laughing at you, just haven't seen this one in awhile.Yes, it was a popular issue a couple years ago but I haven't seen any reports recently. Here's just one sample thread:

One night while I was getting ready for bed, someone's car alarm went off up the street. After awhile, I was wondering why the idiot didn't turn if off. After all, we're in a residential neighbor hood and it's almost 11 o'clock at night. Then I realized the horn was from my Z06, in the garage, at the opposite end of the house. I accidentally hit the alarm button when I removed the FOB from my pants pocket. On occasion, I have I have hit the hatch release button while washing the car when bending over. It doesn't take much to operate the buttons accidentally.

I've found the hatch on my coupe "mysteriously" open on several occasions. It only opens about an inch, but it's still disconcerting.
To prevent this, someone on another thread keeps his FOB (with key removed) in a pouch made for a zippo lighter. I'm also thinking a cell phone case might work, just haven't investigated it.

yes occasionally. it usually happens as I get out, or just after I walk in the house. I now put a towel over the lip of the trunk since it will hit a part of the garage wall otherwise.

Yep...it has happened to me many times. I use to blame the wife for NOT closing the trunk on the 08 Vert or the 02 Coupe....till one day I bent over to pick up something in my driveway and trunk popped open. Pssst, I never told the wife.

The TicTac holder should work well, I use a short piece of bicycle inner tube and semi-rigid plastic underneath it. See my old thread "Clicker Condom" for details.
