Before moving to NC from NH, I thought I'd want a convertible if I ever moved south. Now that I'm here I realized (after many weeks of 90 degree plus temperatures) that it's to frigging hot even in the evenings for a convertible. Secondly, I also now realize I wouldn't want to lose half my luggage space because its so handy for running errands and even transporting small pieces of furniture. Thirdly, I have recently read a number of threads on this Forum regarding difficulties when raising or lowering the top. So I'll stick with the coupe that also provides greater security, body ridgidity, and roll-over protection.
Never had a convertible, never had any sort of targa or t-top, never had a Corvette. Not wild about cloth tops. I know I'm preaching to the choir; with the targa off and riding down the road the halo and hatch are rarely in my field of vision so it feels like a convertible.
I don't have any poles on my convertible. Actually, I did have a Polish friend in the car once, so I guess I really did have a Pole in my convertable (sic).
I have had a couple of coupes and several verts and prefer the open air driving of a vert when I can drop the top. It is the next best experience to riding on a motorcycle in the wind!!
I owned a convertible many years ago and never again. My C6 is my second Corvette coupe and I took the top off once to see how it worked. Probably will not take it off again. I would have bought a non removable top if they had one in 2005.
