headlight protection
Hi all; Does anyone know of a clear headlight protection that can be installed (say for a highway trip ) and then can be removed at the end of the trip. Something that can be re-used over and over again. It would be for added protection for the headlight lenses from road material such as sand ,gravel etc. This would be for day trips only.
thanks ydeer

i have heard from the dealership to never ever cover the headlights with anything film, tape etc they are made of a material that needs to breathe.... if they are covered they will crack.... thats from a vette mech who has alot of years experiance with this car....

opinions are nice but is it worth risking replacement? when you drive during the day everyday they need to keep cool. or if you live where the sun is beating down on your car all day you WILL risk damaging them... i have a pic at home of a set of one of our club members who had them (tinted) covered.... not a pretty pic. and if you have a warranty they wont cover them.. now if you dont and your rich by all means cover them.. what do the other members think of using the blue painters tape on the lens? ill try to post pics later

thanks for all the input. Zip products sells a set for $19.95, i called and they said that you could't remove them and re-install them. one shot deal. guess i'll take my chances with them not covered. forgot about them getting hot.

as posted eariler, 14mm film is too thick for headlights. i have had 8mm on my C6 for 3 1/2 years with no issues. also have it on my avey and CTS with no issues. the heavy film should never be used on headlights. my installer does all the exotics and high line vehicles the same way. i understand you are looking for some "temp" covers but just do the perm film. that's my experience and opinion. and with all due respect to everyone, I've seen "clear bra" headlights covered that haven't gotten crazed (nor have the owners gone "craze-y") really.

this stuff is temporary - good for up to 7 days. it's s a 2.5 mil polyethylene film with a water based acrylic adhesive that has UV protection, and is not supposed to harm paint, so i'm guessing it won't harm the headlights. i'd keep it on only as long as necessary though...
my first time using it will be going to carlisle this weekend...

Roadwrap sounds interesting; just read the FAQ section on their website and it's 2.5 mil thick. So, it could be safe for headlights. Here's hoping!
