I am trying to figure out why my '05 won't start....dosen't recognize the Key Fob...DIC says "no key fob detected". (automatic Trans)
I have new battery in Fob...new battery (optima) installed and key slot in glove box won't work....I noticed that steering wheel will not "lock" and have read that this may cause the car ignition to be disabled.
Anyone heard of this? The only power I have is to the headlights and interior cabin lights....even the alarm system doe not go off when I manually open doors and hatch...
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks, Harleydave

I didn't think that the automatics had the column lock but I may be wrong someone more knowledgeable should verify this.
Only manual trans cars have the column lock.
As for your problem, has to be a low car battery. I know you say new Optima but.......could very well be too low to start the car. Charge the battery for a few hours.
