Default Beyond a tune...

Beyond a tune, what is the best way to improve throttle response? Can it be improved significantly without a tune?

Yes put in a lower (higher numerically) rear gear i.e. 4.11 will make it a lot more responsive!

I recently installed a Vinci / Crane high lift rocket kit in my girl, and the very first thing I noticed as I pulled away from the house was that I was using less clutch w/ improved throttle response after the install.

I am not going to do a full write-up yet, as everyone always wants to know the HP gain, and my local dyno is completely booked this week.

But suffice it to say for the question about improved throttle response, that this install doesn't cause you do go through the full hell of a cam install, but appears to provide some interesting part throttle improvments.

Here is the link to the parts:

or add a CAI, you might feel a little better throttle response. Gears would probably make it "feel" the best improvement in terms of throttle response.

Other than that, there is not much else you could do. You also have to remember, when you do some mods and do not tune, the computer compensates for the adjustments it sees, so you really leave a lot of power on the table by not tuning.

Like AORoads said, I have a Sprint Booster. Take a look here for a post with my thoughts on it:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...e-control.html

Many here have said just add high-ratio rockers, cam, rear-end swap, tune, CAI, etc.

Butt.....I think the point is that vettedoogie, like me, doesn't want to mess with stuff that might void the warranty.

I've been running my LS9 exclusively in the "Sport" mode and it's great - much quicker to build RPMs than stock. With the current unit with the selectable feature, with the push of a button I can put it back to "Stock" for when my wife drives it (never!!) or I let a trusted Corvette driver friend drive it, or I can go to "Race" if I really want to totally smoke the tires. I really don't think "Race" would be good for the track - it's just too fast!!

So.....with the Sprint Booster I get the throttle response I was looking for, but didn't have to do a tune that might void the warranty.

Thanks. That is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I would just like to have better throttle response without any voiding of warranty.
