The CTS-V is a great car. I did not spring for the extra $$ because to me it drove like a muscle car, not a sports car.

The Recaros are very firm race seats and are great when turning the CTS. If the seats were in my 03 vette I would be more confident driving it at the limits.

Car seats are a matter of personal preference and no seat is good or bad for anyone.

For me the Recaros were a must have option for the CTS, the V8 was not.
No V-8 no supercharger So then how does the V-6 drive? Like a luxury sedan? Actually the V-6 doesn't have the magnetic ride so maybe it's a toss up between the two as to which one has a more comfortable ride. The CTS has smaller tires and different suspension so maybe it might be ok. Being that we have the worst roads here per news media and personal experience, I would opt to go to the model that will give the smoothest ride.

No fair has to be stock vs. stock. As far as the seat goes I would go for the seat that is more comfortable not necessarily the one that is going to be better going through turns and twists or track because my style of driving isn't like that. Seat doesn't have to be tight because I won't be going around turns at 100 and comfort is the priority here.

Back in the 80's I had a couple of Recaro Trans Ams. These were hands down the best seats I have ever had. Recaro has quite an extensive catalog, I'm sure they could be made to fit a C5, or C6. You will be deleting the air bag on the side and the power track may not work either.

Back in the day a lot of people were putting Viper seats in the car.

DSV also has a set that you could consider.

I personally have Lamborghini in mine and LOVE the lateral support. We still have full memory and 8 way adjustable too. I have but over 15k miles on them and love every second of it...

People fail to realize that if GM was going to modify the seats in the C6 they would have to do a bunch of crash testing since you are changing a major safety part. It looks like either V's seats are wider than the Vette's. Also the V needs the bigger brakes, more powerful motor, etc because it is almost 1000lbs heavier.

Even my wife doesn't complain about the comfort of the C6. Makes me wonder what some people's priorities are.

When I bought my CTS-V I test drove one with the Recaros and did not like them. I ended up getting the one the dealer had without them. They will not fit in the Corvette.

I have driven a CTS-V sedan and sat in the CTS-V coupe. The headrest in the Recaro seats cannot be adjusted fore and aft, only up and down. The thing I noticed was the headrest was so far forward it seemed to push your head slightly forward. I understand having the headrest right behind your head is desired if you get rear ended, but the fact you cannot adjust it back bothered me a little.

So between the CTS-V sedan and coupe which one did you like better?
You didn't drive the Coupe but drove the sedan?

Why is this? Is the V a automatic or more comfortable?

Yes, it is an automatic, but I really like the power that the supercharged engine brings to the table and the way that the car responds when you press on the "go pedal". I was actually in the market for a 1st gen "V" and test drove this 09 thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal.......but it was!!

The car is definitely more comfortable and for me.....I get to drive it more during the school year since I car pool and have to pick up more than one child. Although I haven't thought about selling my Z06 yet.......I can certainly see why people do!!! I actually ran into a guy the other day with an 06 "V" (who had two C5s prior to his V) and he enjoyed his V more as well......mainly because he has two daughters and can drive the car more......

It's a more practical car to use everyday. The Corvette is like for special occasions. If you own both keep it that way you are lucky to have the best of both worlds.
Besides the Corvette is lighter in weight with less power more flash but to most people the CTS-V is a sleeper. CTS-V is very stealth you don't expect a car like that to pass you by and it attracts alot less attention.

Thanks for the feedback on your experience with the seats as well......I have been looking for a set of Recaro's for the car but maybe I will hold off until I can drive one with them before I go through all the effort.........and expense!!!

My friends would have to agree with you on that as well!!! The 09 CTS-V is definately a wolf in sheeps clothing!!

This car looks best in Crystal Red perhaps that's why in their advertisements the CTS-V is always this color.
Silver is the most stealth color.
Make mine that diamond white color.

Well here goes
I now have a 2010 CTS-V automatic with recaros and a 2009 C6 M6 with the Z51 option.

Here are pictures of both:

The following shows the original CTS with the C6

I have tracked the corvette and have not nor will not track the Cadillac.

I had a 2080 CTS with the stock seats and summer performance package. Thought the car was great but the seats were unacceptable. One of the big reasons for trading up to the CTS-V was the seats. Now they are offered as an option on a standard CTS. I drive the CTS-V as my daily driver. Everyone that has been in the passenger seat loves the Recaros including my wife. She loves the adjustable bolster behind the knees.

The corvette is an awesome car and on the track it is super (Mid Ohio and Beaverun). Can not say the same thing about the seats on the track. I have to prop myself with my knees against the door and the center tunnel. On the other hand on the road - non track, I find the corvette seats more than adequate. I do think that they could improve the sport seats by just putting suede material in the center of the seat back and bottom and leave the leather on the outside.( Now that I think about it I may try this on my own.) Paul what do you think?

Just my thoughts
