Default Front end protection

To shorten the story, I had to have my front bumper replaced because of road gator damage. It is coming out of the shop tomorrow.

I had/have clear bra on it. While I've been pleased with the Venture Shield I'm considering another front end cover. Here are the options that I see.

Reinstall the Venture Shield. Insurance is paying me $350 after the ded so that should cover it since it is just the front bumper. Headlights/up the hood part way, mirrors, and bumper was $550 a couple years ago. Pros are that it is hard to see, easy to clean and does protect the front end well. Cons are that it is still there. I'm considering removing the part covering the hood so that would practically "hide" it since the bumper/lights/mirrors would be covered.

Put on SpeedLingerie. Cons are I'm not too crazy about the one for Atomic Orange, expensive ($500 or so just for the front end cover), not good if driven in the rain (it happens) or dust. More visible than clear bra when it is on. Pros are you can remove it for shows, wax the front end, etc. I also heard a few people complain about overheating because the mesh blocks the air and the C6 engine bay needs all the cooling it can get. There seems to be a lot of SLs in the for sale section, none AO though.

Colgan bra. Cons, definitely visible, generally the same comments as SL otherwise. Pros, relatively cheap.

Nothing is not an option for me. We just have too much construction, dirt, dust, etc in Utah.

I don't know what to tell you. If it were me, there are some newer "tech" clear bras out there which I might try. Then again, the other one worked up to a certain point. Considering the removal and cleaning processes needed for the others, or the breathing issues, I'm not so sure I'd consider the others. Altho I have on occasion.

I'm just kicking ideas around my head while the paint cures.

I just bought the nylon stretch front bumper mask for my GS from C5Creations Also bought the mirror covers. I will use them mostly for road trips. Most of my driving is city driving, so I don't see the need to have it on permanently. Any trip where I'll be on the hiway gets the bra.. Also, it folds into a bag that's only 8"x3" and will store in your glove compartment.

Less than $200 shipped for all 3 pieces and the bag.

Thanks, it looks like Vegas is the closest to me for distrubutors. Hopefully they have a dealer up here in Utah. I would still like to see pics.

As a ventureshield installer I can tel lyou that the new Avery nano Fusion film is much smoother than Venture. Its as smooth as paint and the film is embedded with the clear coat material making it stain resistent. I am very pleased with it so far and just about to the point where I am going to switch lines of film. I wanted to test the durability of it first before switching and after 6 months it looks great. As far as pics go... like I said it is as smooth as paint so you wont see it at all. It also shines very well and would be my first choice if I was wanting to show the car.

On a side note, since 3M bought out Venture and recently relocated them to the 3M facility I have started to notice some quality control issues with Venture film. 3M should have left Venture alone...

Thanks for the info. They are having trouble matching the AO paint now so I told them to remove the VS off the hood and fenders. I found an installer up here near Salt Lake. Here is a link of pics for a JSB C6. You can notice it on the fenders but I'll probably just do the bumper/mirrors.

My technique:

Just use factory touchup paint once a year for minor chips.

Every few years, some moron pulls out in front of me and I get a whole new front end, free.

Works for me...

Atomic Orange is a pain to repaint and match. It took my dealer 3x to get it right when they replaced the bumper. It looks now though.

No problems with rain or dust I leave it on for a year and clean once a year or as needed.
Never had any kind of overheating problem with SLB on. But I cannot see how all of this thin plastic stuff is suppose to be invisible as I can clearly see it and how can it protect as well as SLB as that clear plastic stuff have no density to protect. No cushion.
