Bummer. Mine was so hot once I had to place it back down very quickly and thankfully, no damage but I almost dumped it.
I did just get the top recall done and the fit and finish are excellent so at least if you go for replacement, know that it can be done with really great results

that suks friend.. for the record... dont use armor all on your interior.. not only does it make things slick, it reflective and sticky. Use Zaino z10. it works on vynal and leather, no buffing required, uv rating of 40, your parts dont get slippery or glare......makes the color just look rich.
Hope you can get it fixed without having to buy a new top! that does suk.
303 Protectant is a darn good product as well..the armor all gives off some kind of gas that fogs your windows up after a couple of days..plus it never really dries..the 303 dries completely and will not attract sand, also best UV Protection on the market..bar none!!

Sorry to hear of your damage. I guess we've all had a nightmare or two about it.
Hope you can fix the top and thanks for posting...some of those suggestions are excellent.

Because of the heat build up and the potential for dropping it, I keep a pair of soft leather work gloves behind the seat. I never take the tops off without them.
I dropped mine on my center console once. Luckily, I had a DSVettes console and it absorbed the hit. No damage was done at all.
I watched a GM salesman do this to a brand new Vette he and I were about to test drive. The corner of the top landed on the console and put a real significant gouge in it.
I put it in as a claim, paid my 500 dollar deductible and bought a new one from a dealer. It'll be here in a few days.
There was a recall? Should I be wary of the top that's coming? Is it possible it hasn't been updated as per the recall?
EDIT: Mine was the transparent top to begin with, and that's the one I've ordered as well. Was the recall for painted tops only? I know the Z06 roofs de-laminated, is it the same?

New transparent tops are on sale here for $1,100, and that includes shipping.
My dealer got mine for significantly less than that. I wonder if there's a difference?
I have to admit, I have considered getting the clear top for my car (only option it wasn't ordered with for some reason) so I asked them for the price when I bought the car. I agree with you, I don't know why everyone sells them for $1100+ when the dealer quoted me a factory GM roof for under $900.
So I have to +1 the question - is there something we are missing here?
Edit, actually GS-Zero, you and I should delete our posts and go into the clear roof market
