Greetings there fellow enthusiasts! I am a new member here (been lurking for about a year). I currently have a red 03 coupe. I just ordered a 11 GS coupe, torch red, 4lt cashmere interior. I will pick it up at the end of October post Iraq deployment.
I am thinking about ordering a set of the black permachrome wheels from wheelexchange. Does anyone out there know if they are any good? Do they tend to flake or do they last for a while?
If all works out, I will pick up my new GS and replace the wheels then and there. Let me know if you have any experiences good or bad with them.
Thanks!
need more info. are you talking about that "auction" site's PVD process? give website name for company, if known. I've not had any experience with them.
Yes, I am talking about the auction site. I am a little leery about ordering from them though without talking to someone who has these wheels. I went on their website "wheelexchange.com" and the process looks legit. I am just wondering how well the permachrome will hold up. Basically, they will send you the permachromed OE wheels and you send them back your originals. They are charging $1100 for the process.
Are you sure you want Black Chrome? The Black Chrome I've seen doesn't look Black, it looks more like a glossy Competition Grey.
There are at least two other companies doing the same exchange of OEM wheels, both advertized a cheaper shipped price than what you posted. Don't forget that there are TWO shipping charges, Chrome wheels to you AND your Painted wheels to them. I didn't save the info, try a post in the WTB/For Sale section of this Forum.
You are correct. The black chrome does not exactly look black. Shipping both ways would be almost $400. I will look at some of the other sites and see what kind of deals they have. I am willing to pay extra though for a quality product.
If some company could make an actual BLACK Chrome wheel I probably would buy or have my wheels Chromed. I like the look of Black wheels and to be able to combine the Black color with the durability/hardness of Chrome would be ideal. But, all the Black Chrome I've seen should be called Grey Chrome.

I've got black chrome OEM wheels. I like the look. They are unique and I get lots of compliments. I didn't do an exchange. I just bought them outright from a vendor and paid 1400, including shipping.

Awesome! I like that look too. It's definately something different. Who is the vender? That is about what I would pay plus my OEM wheels.
