Default Console area warm

I was taking my new 2010 Vette out for a ride today and after a while my right hip area was getting warm. I put my hand on the area to the right side of it and it was really warm. I only have 175 miles on it. Is this normal ??? Temp outside about 65 degrees.

Thanks

Normal.

You know that console storage area? No candy bars allowed

I can't even keep my cell phone upright in the cup holder without the thing quickly becoming to hot to hold.

Yes, H-pipe is routed right under the torque tube. A vendor makes a heat shield for this ailment.

Get an Elite Engineering tunnel plate, it's thicker that the stock one and is ceramic coated to keep the heat out. I had one on my 08 Coupe and loved it. I need to get one for my Z06

yes, totally normal. it will be nice in the winter. there is a pre-cut insulation kit sold on the forum (by madvette?) that would help keep the heat down.

The amount of heat seems to vary from one C6 to another. My manual tranny C6 seems to have been warmer than my auto tranny C6.

I have the MN6 and it's never been an issue. A little warm but not a problem.

A couple layers of the foil type insulation (sound deadener) is very effective and one heck of a lot cheaper and easier than replacing the tunnel plate. Mine just gets a little warm not but not hot like it used to.

"It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

Keeps your coffee hot.
Cup holder doubles as a fondue pot.
Make S'mores in the console.

It is an undocumented feature!

I have MadVette's insulation kit and one of the benefits is a cooler console. I still wouldn't leave a candy bar in the console, but at least now I can stow my cell phone and iPod and not worry about frying them.

My center console is warm especially on long drives but I don't notice my cup holders getting that warm.

Try driving in a C-3 on a warm day. It's like driving a rolling sauna. Only hot air came in through the vents.

I installed/help installed 3 insulation kits from Crazy Cowboy. My center console is warmish but nothing hot to the touch. I don't feel any heat myself while driving.

it's easy guys....just get a small hose hooked to the AC duct and run it under the console and direct to the heat zone...that will do it....OK, I haven't done that, but on other forums for other vehicles, they do it for that reason...it might work
