When will we see a "Sync" replacement for the NAV
When will we see an aftermarket replacement for the stock Nav unit that incorporates the Microsoft "Sync" technology that is in the Ford products right now?

Someone gave a detailed electrical explanation of why the C6 nav system could not be upgraded to something other GM cars have now; basically the entire computer system and communications would need rework.
So, probably no significant changes until the C7. Whenever that happens...

The more complex they make the cars the more expensive they'll be to repair. Personally I don't care for anything that takes the driver's attention away from actually driving the car.

Latest update I heard was that GM was working with the Android software to incorporate a similar system to the sync. The Cruz and Volt should be the first to get, and then moving into the other cars in the line. Forecast is in the 2012 year.

That is correct, GM is heavily aligning with the Android platform. As a matter of fact in conjunction with onstar you'll be able to do things like remote start and run diagnostics via applications on your phone.

I myself don't use the stuff, but, there's probably only one or two companies making most of that electronic stuff for those who want it. Once sales spike they pull out something off the self they've had for a year, blow the dust off of it and give it to the auto makers.
