I went to Funfest last year (first time I attended) and was quite underwhelmed. Weather probably had a lot to do with it, but I was disappointed. What's the general consensus on the forum about Funfest as an event? Many people from the forum going?
I remember that hurricane last year on Saturday. According to the weather reports their calling for dry weather this weekend. I'll be there on Friday and Saturday.
A buddy's C6 got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out. It was a mess.
Here's hoping this years weather/event is better.
If there will be any vendors doing header installs I would make the hour drive. But I've been asking for months now and none of our vendors have responded. Bummer.
Planned on going last year but got called into work at the last minute. I'm interested in going this year but I've been told not to waste my time. Not many vendors and pricing isn't anything special either.
Can you enlighten us westerners. what is the corvette funfest and who hosts it? we dont seem to have the big vette events like you guys get back east. wish we did so i might be lookin for a road trip.

Last year's show DEFINITELY was affected by the hurricane like weather on Saturday. As far as Funfest as an event that depends a lot on what you like or what you're looking for. Personally having anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 Corvettes in one location is HUGE. You will see every color, year, size, shape, mod, extreme and originality there is to see in a Corvette. Mid America will have all their merchandise available and most on display. If you need a new exhaust system installed there are several choices. If you are into Tech seminars, again there are several to choose from. Stars, Mike always has a lineup of Stars that are popular with car enthusiasts. Do you like music? Mike always presents a well known world class band that has had Top 40 hits. And at $25 it's the CHEAPEST big name Corvette show around!! If you go be listening Saturday afternoon as they will start assembling some 50 yellow Corvettes in a "Yellow Ribbon" as a Salute To The Troops!! Hope to see many Corvette Forum buddies this week-end!! Our club is parking Vettes on Friday so we'll looking for you!! Shooter

Who said you Californians had all the fun!!
Doug,
Funfest is an annual event in September each year held and put on by Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois. I have attached the link to check it out. It has anywhere from 10,000 to 17,000 Corvettes attend throughout a 4 day event. If you get a chance click around on the Mid America web site and read up on how Mike Yager, his family and employees at Mid America has built MAM into the world class business it is today. Funfest is a chance for Corvette enthusiasts of all ages get together for a fun filled week-end with other Corvette lovers. Check out the link:
Dammit, of course its the weekend of the 18th. My daughter has been nominated to the "queens" court and the homecoming football game and naming of the homecoming queen is the 18th. Fathers of the nominees must participate so family first!
Maybe next year will work out. Thanks for the info guys!
We have attended the past 5 years and really enjoyed it with the exception of the rain the past 2 years .. We had 10 cars / 20 people from our Club two years ago.
But we aren't going this year due to reasons other than the show....will likely go next year.
I've gone three out of the past four years. We live in St. Louis, so we drive over and come home on the same day. Twice we went on Saturday, and it was well worth our time. Two years ago we went on Friday. Attendance was way down compared to Saturday, possibly in part because gas prices skyrocketed that year. But we were lucky, because on Saturday they had a terrible storm. Didn't go last year, and the storm was worse. So we were lucky two years in a row.
In a couple of old threads I posted photos from Funfest. Click on the links below and you can get an idea what attendance at the event is like. If you've never been, then go. It is worth your time. If you are staying overnight, expect to locate a hotel about 50 miles away, or further unless you catch a cancellation.
I purchased tickets to park in the "decades" section, as I have a 2010 Grand Sport. I was really looking forward to going but my girl and I are gonna take the kids up to Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois.
Anyone in Geneva Illinois (or close) want the tickets? It was $50 for two but no charge as I have no use for them now and would like to see someone use them.
I'm planning on going on Saturday. Never been to it and its only about a 90 mile drive. Can't really find out the agenda for Saturday, but thinking of leaving around 8 or so and coming home that afternoon.
Attended for the first time last year. Friday night our C6 was hit at the Garden Inn parking lot (hit & run). And Saturday was cold and wet. This year we'll be attending a car show in Franklin, KY. Have a great time and be careful where you park.
I went last year for the first time. the wheather sucked. I was impressed by the extent of work that Mid America put into the event. It's a lot of work and expense. True customer appreciation.
