I was at my local dealer today and 1/2 the 'vettes on the showroom floor wouldn't open. Where the door-lock pop-up is on most cars, was a red LED. The window was open so I reached in and pressed the un-lock button. Nothing happened. Door would not open from inside or out. Key-fob required near car, or what?
Do you know what it takes to start one? Why would you think you could open a locked car without the same fob required to start it?
Sorry, all the cars I have owned are <02. None of them require the same key in the door as the ignition. You reach your arm in and unlock them if the window is down.
I guess that also leads to the question of why a dealership would have the FOB in the car when small kids run around uncontrolled (the South) and love to mess with stuff like that and press buttons. I will ask if one has ever been put through the showroom window.

You need the key fob in your pocket ,and then the relationship starts

If you go to the vette that is locked but the windows are down just pull up on a lever at the bottom of the door on the floor. It will work even better if the car is in the show room.
No one should notice the way you opened the car if you do it this way.

Nah, don't do this, the horn should start blasting! So probably not a good idea. But would be too funny!!

Yeah, maybe that crap happens up north too, but I never saw it up there. Families of 10 just wreck places down here. It's rediculous. Children running around parents not in sight ripping junk off shelves in the stores, etc.
Common.
But if the car was locked by either the fob or the power door lock, if you pull the emergency lever near the floor, the alarm will go off. Watch for dirty looks and a mad scramble to find the fob.
So...what was wrong with the car? LED was on so battery couldn't have been STONE dead. Surely juice left enough to unlock, no?
Maybe and maybe not. Did you reach in and push the unlock button on the door? Just because the red light is on doesn't mean the battery has enough power to operate the doors.
When I was shopping for a C6 half the cars wouldn't open because they had dead batteries.
In most cases there was only one person at the dealership (not the salesman that greeted me/was after my business) that knew how to get in the car with the key and where the door release was.
Not too confidence-inspiring when you know more about a product than the person trying to sell it to you.

I tried the button inside the car. No dice.
I used to sell cars, too. I worked for Ford. Lots of stuff to learn, and most people bought a focus, taurus, F150, or V6 mustang. I never did learn how to mess with the MyColor or exactly how much an F250 could tow with the new 6.0L. Can't be too hard on them. Things change year to year and there are a lot of things to learn.
I got locked in an 07 zo6 in the showroom once. Opened the door and sat down, went to get out and the door wouldn't open. Had to call the dealers over, one was cool one was a dick.

If I had not read this thread/understood this was a real possibility regardless, I would ask if you were blonde.
