I have a 2006 C6 coupe, 4 1/2 years old, 14,000 miles. In the last couple of weeks, the clutch pedal has started to squeak. Not really loudly, but enough so that every time you operate the clutch, you hear it (and so does your passenger). It occurs when you depress the pedal right at the floor end of the pedal stroke. Only on the downstroke, not when you engage the clutch. I have an extended GM warranty but am not sure if this would be covered and my Chevy dealer here in Fairfax County, VA is VERY expensive. Any thoughts on what might be doing this and is there something I can do myself to stop the sqeak?

Thanks very much
Same thing happened with mine and many others. Just get under the dash with some WD-40 and give the whole clutch assembly and especially the springs a good squirting. I have never heard my clutch squeak again after that.

Though if you want greater staying power a nice coating of white lithium grease will cure it for good.
Couple of further questions please. Do you all use WD40 spray or put a few drops of liquid on? And is there something I can "mess up" if I go into the general area and blast away with the WD-40? I don't want to cause further problems trying to fix the frakking clutch. And to use lithium grease, how do you apply it? I've only used it on bicycles.

Thanks guys.
You wont mess up anything, just get the can of WD-40 and use the little straw attachment so you can concentrate your spraying to the areas you want. Only downside is you may get a whiff of WD-40 for a short time when getting into your car but that will fade quickly. You can offset that with a good air freshener also. But have no fear, the WD-40 will not harm anything. Just dont spray it on the pedal itself. That could cause a problem for you. lol Also, you really dont need to blast away as you say. Just a few concentrated sprays of the moving parts and springs should do the trick.
It sounds like you may need a new clutch pedal spring. I have gone through two. I heard a squeak much like what you described and looked under the dash and noticed a break on one side of the spring. You can pick up a new one from the dealer for about 12 or 13 bucks. I left mine out this time which gives it a heavier pedal, which I prefer. I hope this helps.
