Grand Sport over Z51 or even stock Vette
I`m sure its been asked but is there any noticable difference in performance or drive in a GS over a stock or Z51 C6?? 08` on. Guess what I`m trying to ask is it worth the added $s? I do like the flared wells, and larger tires. Thanx Lenny

For me, I drive an '08 z51 which I love, but I do like the more aggressive look of the GS. The hp is the same, the brakes and tires are bigger, while they've made some modifications from the z51 suspension, keeping more in line with the z06.
This is what I know. The GS certainly is a tempting upgrade for me anyway.

For what it's worth, Motorweek did an episode during 2/10 where they drove the GS and they loved it. Do some youtube searches, there is some good stuff there.

Edmunds tested both cars and they got identical times, except the GS did get 3 feet shorter in braking distance. If it matters to you, the base coupe will get 2MPG better MPG over the GS on the highway. This is due to the greater mass and rolling resistance of the GS.
If you like the looks, go with the GS.
A 2008 z51 will cost you around $35k-$38k, depending on mileage and options. A used 2010 GS will run you around $45k-$50k depending on options/mileage. A NEW but forum discounted 2011 GS will run you $55k-$60k depending on options.
If you buy a NEW 2011, get the F55 option. That option will make the GS handle better on a skidpad over the 2008-2009 Z51.
NOW, if you want the REAL DEAL and don't mind a manual trans, get a used 2008-2010 Z06. Night and day difference between a base coupe/GS vs. a Z06. Test drive both, you will see what I am talking about.

I traded my 08 Z51 for a 10 GS. I will say that the brakes are better, the rear stays planted better. Faster ? No. I had the opportunity to run on the track against my old car and it was a dead heat.

Performance wise, a 2008-2009 Z51 vs. a 2010 GS are identical in performance.

Has to be with the extra wind drag, bigger wheels and tires. Yes 20's are slower

I do need to say this....the GS with the same LS3 as the Z51 will be a tad slower because of added weight....it would seem, however, owners claim the same.....seems as if two cars has identical power plants but one weighs more and has tad more resistance from wider tires this would be the case....I have driven GS and owned a '09 Z51 Roadster w/NPP (sold) and the Z51 had just a tad over the GS....Love the styling though of GS....that's why I bought my '10 Z06

Ummmm are you quoting the correct post? Top speed wasn't a factor in deciding on the GS for me.

Either the search function has totally failed or people just don't try to do it or know how to do it!
