So, my C6 has been in the shop for the past week undergoing Grand-Sportification. I ran into some issues and had to re-order the parts. The parts will be here this upcoming week and then it'll take a week or so before the paint and installation is finished, so it'll be a little while before I get it back.
We're almost in October, so driving pop's C6 Z06 is out of the question because he retires the car just before the inclement weather is upon us. So I've been driving my 'normal car' which is a 2000 Ford Expedition. (It has some body roll.)
Interestingly, though, I don't miss the Corvette. I've left my car places before and I always get so irritated not being able to drive it. Now, it's different. I don't feel itchy at all. I think it's because I know what it'll be like when I get it back. I'm exhibiting unusual patience.
Anyone else feel this way when their cars are being upgraded and not serviced?
I kinda get where you're coming from. I DD an Accord and while I take care of the car (oil changes, washing, name-brand gas, etc), I don't think twice about how or where I park. On those rare occasions when I drive the C6 to work, I am much more aware of where I park, to minimize the chances of door dings.
Fact is, you can either drive the car and enjoy it, or lock it up at home and fret over the dust it collects.
Like you, my 2010 is in the shop right now getting a new hood, front Z06 style bumper, and Z06 rear quarter panels. I want them to take their time and do it right. I definitely am in no hurry to get it back. But, I will have a big grin when I do get it back.

I believe your not really missing it because you still have it, it's just in the shop and you know you'll be driving it again shortly. You would feel differently if you didn't have the car any longer.
