Default Heater Problems

I cannot control how the heat or a/c comes out of the vents, the air is coming out all vents at the same time. Has anybody had this issue? The dealer said there is a flap that is stuck and they will have to take the dash apart and will cost about a $1000.00. Help!!!

Actually, if they honor that price, it's pretty good.

The "actuators" haven't been the problem in the C6 that they were in the C5's but we are seeing more reports about them here. Here are a couple posts I found just for info. Good luck.

RickT is right about that price; I'd jump on it. I had to replace the passneger side actuator in my C5 some years ago and the dealer wanted $1200 back then to do it; the car had just gone out of warranty. I thought that was nuts and that I would just do it myself. I had the service manual for the car and thought "how hard can this really be". Well, I got it done, but I would gladly pay the $1200 to the dealer if it ever happend again. What a major PITA!!

However, I have read that the driver side actuator in the C6 is pretty easy to get to; that you don't need to remove the dash to change it. But you do have to remove the dash to change the actuator on the passenger side. Do you know which side is bad?

Ouch! Happened to my Dodge pick up. Thankfully under warranty.

Sucks!

Mine's doing the same thing. I first noticed it while I was at Eureka Springs, late weekend.

I seen on another forum that on the c5's you could unhook the battery and a fuse to reset the actuators. Has anybody heard of this?

I've seen it several times on the C5 Forum, very few successes though (that I remember). I don't know if it's an actual fix or just coincidental. Might be worth a try, doesn't cost anything. Let us know.

Oh, don't forget if you disconnect the battery you'll have to reindex the windows after reconnecting.

In my C5 when it went out the passenger side would blow only warm air no matter what the temperature setting was. And I tried the disconnecting the battery trick to reindex the actuator flaps but it did not work. Sometimes it does I am told, and sometimes they just remain stuck in one position. Another thing the dealer had me try was to manually rapidly change the temp settings from warm to cold, back and forth and back and forth. Didn't work, either. But that was on a C5 - these ideas may work on the C6.

Hey! I was having a similar problem with mine, but mine was a little different. My driver vents will blow cool/warm what ever I wanted, but my passengers would only blow hot air at all times at full blast! It was pissing me off. I had to replace my water pump 2 days ago due to it leaking from behind the pulley, So I disconnected the battery and disconnected some of the sensors that are on the AC line and after the pump was installed, I tried it and it works again! It was a little weird, I don't know if the pump fixed it or what the hell...
