Default E-Force Installed

My son finished installing an Edelbrock E-Force (554HP) with Kooks Headers in my 2008 Convertible, Z51. We took it for a test drive and all I can say is wow. Very Quick.

Installing the Edelbrock kit had some challenges. The instructions and organization of the parts are not perfect. We had to grind in two spots to ensure the install of the SC. One hose connection had to be modified as it did not fit the '08. The programming was simple although I took the time to update the latest file from Edelbrock website first.

We had to use the grinder to get the Kooks headers installed. Very tight fit for 1 7/8 inch headers.

The sound is great. The response is quick. I can break traction with a mild effort on the pedal. It screams when rolling from 25 to 70.

There are no tuners where I live. So no plans to tune until I get the SC paid off and purchase an HP Pro with a self study course.

Outstanding.

I am interested in your experience, as I am flirting with one of the Edebrocks for my '06, and will totally self-perform as well.

How long did the overall job take?

What kind of system do you have aft of the Kook's?

So I have been thinking about doing it too as a self install. Did you contact Edelbrock about it not fitting right or was it just a headers causing the problem? Also a dumb question, if you break traction with just mild is that when moving or what? My concern is that I add the power but with the factory width tires, I do get to really use that power because I can't get traction then have to get bigger tires and get into wheels have to be changed, tires too wide for body and look bad or have to get widebody coversion, etc., etc. and spend the money just to open a can of worms. Any insight??????

you will really need to go to R compound rear tires. such as toyo R888.
The power will just spin crap out of runflats

I have a thread in FI section, meant to create one but not sure how to combine them. Here are some picks of our Edelbrock E-Force and Kooks header install.

Did you notice if the front end was noticeably lower after installation? The kit reportedly adds about 90 pounds and reduces your ground clearance by about 1/2 inch, uncorrected.

Default milage

I would like to know how gas mileage changes. You hear all kinds of things, they say it is still mild mannered unless you stomp on it, and the mileage is still good. One of the big bragging points of the vette is the great power and still gets good mileage.
Hope you will let us know.

Thanks & congrats

I have the E-Force and it lowered the front more than an inch!! I was smacking my air damn everywhere it seemed and it was very annoying to say the least. Mine is the F55 and perhaps that's why it went down a little more... no idea really. In any event I was able to use the stock bolts and get back within 1/4" of stock which cured the problem. I did not lower the rear but I would suspect changing the angle would also help.... On a slammed car it would be hitting everything IMO.....

On highway driving my E-Force dropped it about 2 mpg... in town it lowered it a lot more because I'm constantly mashing the gas so it's hard to say. I never got very good mileage before the install. I really think it's a function of how you drive.... more than anything else. Mine is a MN6 btw and in the 4 years I've owned it the CAGS light has never gone on... So I'm probably not the best example of gas mileage with boost...

My runcraps are toast already and have new wheels and tires arriving next week. With the low end torque you can roast them in the first 3 gears anytime you want. I'm going up to 325's in the rear and hope it helps with traction because right now it's like roller skating in a buffalo herd... I can tell you it's really a lot of fun to drive now. All the power I need with 500 rwhp and bone stock! What makes the tvs setup fun for the street is all the low end torque imo. With 7 to 8 psi I would also expect the engine to last for awhile assuming no unexpected issues. I had no desire to crank 600 or 700 rwhp with double digit boost numbers..... It's really all about what you want and are comfortable driving with!

For gas mileage....we used an eighth of a tank very quickly. Could be from ... experimentation and breaking in of the SC

I have no idea about mileage as it snowed a trace today and figure I might be parking for the winter.

I would go to wider tires but how will they look and fit on a slim body convertible....

Before this morning's percipitation I ran about 15 miles....just an extrodinary modification. Now I know I have more power than that Doctor's Aston Martin DB9....

As far as installation....I wouldn't trust anyone other than my son...who stands to inherit or get a great deal on a used corvette when the second year of production for C7s occurs.

Default long

Took about 40 hours to install including headers and x-pipe. Had small problems. Time also includes - take your time and do it correctly, watching granddaughter, picking up grandson from school, going to get tools or things at other house among other time wasting. I would plan on taking more hours than you think, take your time and get it correct.
