My '08, M6 gave me quite a start (no pun intended) at noon when I went to the post office. I got back in, pressed the start button and was greeted by silence and a very faint glow from a couple of the dash lamps. Pressed it again several times and still nothing. Finally pressed it off and back on and eventually it started normally. I've avoided the hard-slammer-push business with the button since right after I got the car and learned it only takes a gentle non-violent press, so would hate to think the button is worn out already after only 5,400 miles. Clutch was full down all the time so probably not the interlock. I did notice that I forgot to shift to reverse for that two minute stop period while in the PO, but the E-brake was on and it has never dropped out before today.
Is this one of those simple computer electronic things that responds to the universal Microsoft-cure (disconnect the power to reboot the brains) or is it something I should have the dealer inspect? Any service bulletins out there??? Going to be near the dealer Friday (out of town dealer) so a stop there is no problem.
Your wise counsel would be received with much gratitude.
every now and then I get a weird happening. I just shut if off...wait a sec and restart...all the electical gremlins tend to take off then. thats what we get for having so much HiTech stuff in our cars I guess

No need for reverse, you don't have an 05.My 08 glitches once in a while.I'm getting a new remote under warranty because it's been doing it a little to much lately.

When that happens you must go to the "off" position then try to restart, just for future reference. I also don't push the clutch in far enough sometimes, even when I think I do,and that will do a no start as well.
