I sold my 2008 Corvette here on the Forum. This was the 6th Corvette that I have owned. Came within a eye wink of purchasing a 2008 Porsche 911S. The car only has 10,000 miles and originally had an MSRP of $98,000. The seller and I ended up a mear $1,000 apart. Finally came to my senses and ordered a 2011 Corvette Convertable from a Forum dealer. Cyber Gray with a red interior.
Good decision! You really would have be unhappy after you paid the bill for your 15,000 mile service on your Porsche, per a friend of mine with one. My 15,000 mile service was $315.00. His wasn't!
The ones worth owning were air cooled. Some of the later Porsche products are susceptible to having the failure of an intermediate shaft in the engine - as in the engine is toast if (when) it happens. Just do a search on IMS failure and see what you get. They fixed it recently by redesigning it but...
Congrats on the Vert, I think you made the right decision.
Gee, maybe it was a "base" convertible so you can answer that sooper dooper thread, "who buys a 2011 base Corvette?"
Then again, why bother? Just enjoy the car when you get it. $1K difference and the person didn't make the sale? That shows you a tough (but stooopid) negotiator.
A wise decision but I would not hammer you if you had bought the Porsche either. Two very different cars and both serve a purpose in the world of sports cars IMHO.

Yup...different cars and different owners...and different prices...
$ for $, you cannot beat a 'vette.
I just did the Tail of the Dragon yesterday and the 'vette handled it like a dream....I am sure the Porsche would handle it as well....
