I know this may sound crazy, but as a newbie to the forum I thought I'd check...When I bought my 07 C6 manual transmission, the dealer told me when I park the car I should keep it in reverse when I turn the car off. Does anyone else do this or were they just pulling my leg? They said it saves the battery.
This was true with the 2005 model only. A condition nown as DBS (Dead Battery Syndrome) was caused when the battery would drain if the car was left in any other gear except reverse. This was corrected with later models beginning with the '06. You can safely leave it in any gear with the engine off and not worry about battery drain. You can do a search here on the topic of Deab Battery Syndrome and get a lot of information about it.
The dealer just got his years mixed up. Could have been an honest mistake. I think he deserves credit for at least knowing about the "keep it in reverse when off" situation. Eventhough he was wrong, b/c of this C6's year, he was trying to look-out for BigJazz.

Sort of like the one I was to recently who assured me they would remove the top and open the doors if they had to lift one wheel at a time? When a dealership is only allowed to sell 2 Corvettes a year (or none), they tend to not keep up with the latest info. That's why NCM delivery is worth far more than it costs.
