Why Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat has different price on different GM products?

Chevrolet Cruze $325
Chevrolet Cobalt $325
Chevrolet HHR $325
Buick Lucerne $495
Chevrlet Corvette $850
Cadillac SRX $995
Cadillac CTS $995

Because of the different paint lines (and their capacity) that the color is painted on in each of the different GM facilities that run the automobiles that you noted. In the case of the Corvette for example it isn't the cost of the paint (as your question would imply) as much as it is the cost of the labor. The CRM paint uses a tinted clear coat to achieve the final color. This is painted on one of the two clear coat robots in the BGAP paint shop. In order to paint the CRM the paint line must be stopped, the clear coat robot must be stripped down and cleaned. Once the run for that color is done the same thing must be done again to switch back to conventional clear or to one of the other tinted clear coat premium colors. Each of the tintcoat colors uses a different tint to achieve the final color appearance of their respective base color and each of these are different than the conventional clear coat that is used on the non-premium colors.

It's called premium margins..... you'll find this in all products. The higher end the product, the higher the cost which equates to larger margins.

I'm speculating, but if you are considering this color for your newest vette. It's awesome!! I love it on my 2010 Z06. I don't like paying extra for paint either, but it really does look nice.
