My check engine light came on today. There are no messages on the DIC and the car runs great. Is there a way to test the oxygen sensor or other items that may cause this problem?

If you have an Autozone near by, go and have your codes read. They typically will do it for free. Once you get your codes, it will tell us what is causing the light to be on. If it is an amber light and on steady my immediate thought is an evaporative emissions error brought about by a loose gas cap. If you refuled the vehicle in the last day or so you may not have reseated the gas cap completely. The number one cause of this type of CEL is the gas cap not being on correctly.

Most likely due to the fuel fill cap. There are plenty of less than perfect fill caps in the C6 fleet population so even if you installed correctly, it is possible to still throw a CEL due to the cap as my car seems to do right after a fill-up about once a year.
