Default Window stuck

I posted this a couple of days ago with no response in the tech forums :

I know that there is probably a hundred questions like this but I cant find the answer.

My 05 c6 window is stuck . I can pull it up or push it down but when I hit the power button it just makes a grinding noise . At first I heard a loud crashing noise inside the door but now it just sounds like the motor grinding. Before it was a more silent noise when I lowered the window.

Indexing isn't whats wrong.

Thanks for reading and thanks for any help.

Fix your car. It's the window regulator.

If it is your plan to fix it yourself, then you need to remove the door panel and have a look. Something has come loose or broken and once the whole thing is visible, it will be obvious as the sounds you described mean it is something mechanical that is wrong, not something electrical. Be gentle, as the regulator is an expensive part.

Which door, passenger or drive? I have a spare passenger window regulator from an 08 convertable.

Sounds like it came off the track if you can move it and it is making a grinding noise. I wouldn't touch the power button anymore, you might damage the glass even more than it is now.

Have you had any problems or erratic operation of the door switch on that side?

I think I will have to put the car in the shop when I can get to it after seeing that instruction. It is the passenger door .

just be advised, if it is a window regulator, it and the labor are not cheap. this will be a several hundred dollar job (500 not unreasonable). rephrase: it is unreasonable, but it's what you'll likely pay.

No erratic problems on that side with the switch. I usually use the switch on the drivers door since I am in the car myself most of the time.

Thanks AORoads!

I have expected 500 - 600 already since it will be at the dealer. The warranty ran out already. A 2005 , so i already had to get the water pump exchanged at 36,2000 miles right after the thing expired. I think that was 700 or more.

My 05 regulator broke a few months ago. I have the GMPP and it took care of it. Be prepared for an expensive repair. I would have done it myself if I didn't have the the insurance.

Thanks VET4LES !

Who would have thought these things would go out so soon after the price of one ( the car).

I hear GM windows are known for that now.
