Default Dash Mount Performance Meters

Just want to know what kind of dash mount performance meters everyone is using and what kind of feedback? Do you recommend or not? I was looking at the GTech Pro Model SS. Anyone have experience with this model or others?

I dont know which meters are the best, but I know Colbalt gauges are a popular brand.

No recommendation for brands, but people who have used them and then run at the strip; report the meter will show a slightly higher trap speed than the time slip. That's because the meter gives your speed at exactly 1/4 mile, but the time slip uses the last "x" feet to determine your speed and you're accelerating through that distance.

Do you have an iPhone?

My iPhone is mounted on a stalk connected to the cigarette lighter so I can have Trapster running, as well as Pandora or iHeart Radio.

So.....if you count that as a dash mounted performance gauge, then I've got one!!

However.....you have to purchase some more hardware to have it work as an OBD-II scan tool, dyno, data logger, efficiency meter, or performance tool. Take a look at this site:

http://www.ot-2.com

I haven't used the 0-60 acceleration, HP calculation, aceleration G's, 1/8th and ¼ mile times features, so I can't comment on its accuracy.

I have used it to check and clear codes, and to log data, and it works great doing those things.

So, if you have an iPhone, you might consider the OT-2. It's easy to hook up - just plug it into your OBD port and you're in business!!

I'm not sure whether they have apps to make it work with other smart phones/PDAs.

Bob

I do have an iPhone and I have seen this before. I am just wondering about the accuracy of all the diagnostics. I would like to hear from someone that has used all the features it is capable of.

Short report - received the DashDAQ and love it. It is very useful, can monitor almost everything with the GM upgrade and you can configure it how you want. You can also log up to 9 readings on one graph. Its very user friendly. I would recommend it. That said, I wouldn't pay full shot. Its like $700 with the GM upgrade. Search out a used one. The one I found works and looks new for less than 1/2 price.
