I know this has been posted a few times, but i have a question that hopefully someone can answer. My 05 has had the Harmonic Balancer replaced 2 times since I bought it. Same issue again, my question is do you have to replace the Harmonic Balancer pulley, or can it be re adjusted so it doesn't wobble anymore. I heard that's a $1000 job. If it has to be replaced I was thinking about using SLP. Has anyone went aftermarket yet?
As far as I know, the original TSB called for the replacment of the original crank pulley bolt with the newer style diamond embedded bolt. That was the fix and it should have worked if it was installed properly the first time.
Before spending your own money, It might be worth following this up with your zone rep to see if the work can be done right this time...and at no charge to you.
The TSB onlyapplied to the first 11039 cars in 05 and was only applicable if the bolt came loose. There is no adjustment on the pulley and there are no "out of limit" specs on wobble. Only if the belt starts chirping will they replace it under warranty.
That's the problem, they are chirping now. She went out of warranty last Nov. The first time I had it replaced was in 06. The second time was summer of 08. I am going to bring to the dealer and plead my case.
