Why do we mod?
In my opinion, if you're not doing the wrenching, then you're still a waxer, just a faster one.
I've done plenty of "wrenching" on cars and motorcycles over the years, some for fun, but mostly out of necessity. In college I worked for a large auto center doing mostly tires, shocks, and brakes. Working at that shop changed my perspective, working on cars is work, dirty work. Once I finished school I decided working at a desk was much more to my liking. I still like working on my '63, but not on the new cars.
If you can afford it, delegating personal tasks to professionals is great. HeII, I hardly wash or wax my own cars anymore, I go to a detailer. When it comes to something like an E-Force SC installation, I'd leave that to the pros for sure. So, if I were to add the E-Force 1590 to my LS3 would I be a modder? I sure wouldn't be a waxer.

If you pay someone to prepare a gourmet meal, are you a chef? Just because you can eat, doesn't make you a chef.If you pay someone to put a roof on your house, are you a roofer? Just because you can take shelter under it, after paying someone else to put it up, doesn't make you a roofer.
If you pay a band to play at your daughter's wedding reception, are you a musician? Just because you can waltz, and open up your wallet to pay a band, doesn't make you a musician.

You could still order your Zaino, and wax to our heart's content, but when it came down to the actual skills to install and fix that supercharger, well,
someone else would have to do that for you.
Same as the musician, the roofer, and the chef above.
