Default center button question (traction control)

I have an '05 coupe Z51, when I press the button my information says;

1) Traction control off...press it again it says..

2) Competitive driving mode..when pressed again..

3) traction control and active handling system -on

my Question is what are 1,2,and 3. and what changes happen to the drivetrain and suspension. thanks

Personally, I don't have the answers to any of your questions. However, here's a post that I saved that may or may not help you. It's all I have on the subject.

Traction Control vs Active Handling vs Competition Mode

When you start up the car, AH and TC will be "ON".

Push the button once, TC will be disabled but AH will still be on.

Push the button twice within 5 seconds and Competitive Driving mode is "ON".

Push and hold the button for 5 seconds or more and TC and AH are both "OFF".

Comp mode is TC "OFF" and AH is not quite so aggressive - it allows the car to go a little farther out before AH intervenes.

A lot of owners that track the car like to run with everything off (button down for 5 seconds to turn off AH and TC). If you don't have sensors in your track tires, you may not be able to turn off AH (it seems to depend on when the car was built as to how tolerant it is to running with no sensors).

The owner's manual says that after you drive for approximately 1 hour with no sensors, the AH won't be able to be turned off (or if it is off it will automatically come back on). Some owners have no problems with this (especially if they don't run for more than an hour at a time without shutting down - the system seems to reset itself when you shut down the car and then restart). Other guys that are racing with the AH off don't want it coming back on in the middle of a session, so they run sensors in their track tires and get a tire sensor reset tool so they don't have any problems.

No changes at all to the drivetrain or suspension in your '05 Z51.

The AH will try to keep your azz end from swapping ends on you by putting on individual brakes. If the tail end is stepping out when you try to accelerate out of a corner it may pull power on you to keep you from spinning out.

In Comp mode, AH is still active, but it will let you slide the car around a little more before it intervenes so that you can drive more aggressively on the track without it being so intrusive.

If you push and hold the button until both TC and AH are off - you've got nothing to help save you.

Thanks ...I did a search and read for hours so far about this pretty cool system, I will probably use Comp mode more often now
