So we all agree that the LS3 suffers from a rough idle !!
Is that a normal thing in year 2010 / 2011 , I don't find this in cheaper or more expensive sports cars .... and what do the dealer say when you complain about that ?
Mine is an LS2 (07) and when the car has warmed up the idling is nasty. RPMs normally are 550 but will dip to 500 regularly and while reversing the car sometimes feels like it is going to stall (power steering gets tight). I am told by everybody (including the stealership) that this is normal, however, I am not convinced.
I share your doubt, I had an 07 for 4 years and it was very smooth at idle, rpm did not fluctuate. My prior comments were pointed at the ls3 that I have in my 2010. You should try another dealer. Also you should find a forum member near you so you can compare the feel at idle.
Thank you all for your comments so it seems a normal thing with the Corvettes . My C63 AMG has 6.2L and 450 HP , but the idle is very stable and smooth. Maybe different technologies !
No, just a different specification with the camshafts lift and duration on the Benz. The higher the lift is on a camshaft, the rougher the engine will idle and also gives the engine more air into the combustion chamber giving it more horsepower.
