The Bose amp and speakers are the weak link in the system. The factory nav HU will work fine if you bypass the Bose amp and replace the speakers. I'm actually in the process of gathering everything I need to start this project. I have 2 amps left over from a previous vehicle. I have all the cables, just got some new door speakers, got a harness to add some RCA jacks to the factory HU, I'm waiting on some speaker adapter plates. I'll be ordering the Vettebin/Partition combo soon to stash the amps in. I think I'm gonna go with a Subthump woofer enclosure. Soon as I get everything I'm gonna spend a day on this project and see how it works out. The Bose sound system is the only thing about this car that I hate.
EVRose, sounds like a good setup. Good luck, I couldn't agree more the Bose system might be worse then 90% of cars I have owned and this includes basic systems. I can't believe that GM even wasted there time and energy with such a crappy system.
It's total junk. I've seen better factory speakers in 30 year old cars. I had a 2000 Grand Prix with Bose speakers and they were 10x better than these. I actually replaced everything but the speakers in that car and it sounded great. I don't know what they were thinking either at the factory. They put a set of $50 speakers in a $50K car and think it sounds good.

Both of our C6's with the Nav/Bose with CD's or iPod/PAL sounded "ok" when standing still, but the audio quality was pretty bad once they got rolling.
I installed the Blockit sound mats and switched to Michelin runflats (A/S). To my surprise, the reduced interior noise has bumped it back into the "ok" category when moving, for me. Still not a very good system, but good enough for me. Audiophiles will not be satisfied with my setup.
If you replace the HU with an aftermarket on, buy the NON-Blose adapter and it will considerably raise the out put levels of the Blose system and it will, cant believe I'm saying this, sound really good. Almost like it should have from the factory.
