I would like to know the best radar detector on the market for corvettes. I have a 2010 grand sport convertible. I will be hard wiring the radar detector. Thank you.
How do I hook up the V 1 to HUD ? I am going to mount it on the mirror with the invisicord. Thanks

Check the C6 General section for other peoples opinion. Many chose the Valentine 1 and like the arrows to show the direction the radar is coming from. Others like the Passport / Escort line. I happen to have a couple of V1's in my vehicles. You will have to make that decision yourself, both of them are great detectors, but neither will replace common sense.
To help you out, I can tell you that I have owned the V1, the passport 9500ix, and now the Passport Redline. I like the Redline the best because it has the longest range, and that is, by far, the most important factor for me. The V1 was nice because of the arrows but did not have the range, and the 9500IX has the shortest range of the 3
I also have a Grand Sport
I have the V1 and love it.. I like the fact that it tells you how many signals you are getting hit with... I know that when I am going to vegas and heading into Baker I will see two signals. With most detectors you would have to slow down. If I see two I know I am free to go if I see three then I will slow down.
My biggest issue now is that I just put the good window tint on and it's 100% metal so I am wondering if it is going to screw me up from behind....
Hope not
I like the Redline the best because it has the longest range
Both Escort and Valentine have great range. Some bands fair better on one or the other:
My experience with the Valentine One is that I hear the alert way before I see the LEO. In California the Highway Patrol uses Ka band. When traveling on the freeway, my V1 goes off several minutes before I actually see the CHP car - plenty of time to slow down to the posted speed limit. Never had a ticket
I have had Escort and Passport brand detectors since pretty close to day 1 of detectors. I think all but 1 have been new. Probably have had over a dozen of them. This past year they sent me an advertisement and one option was to upgrade my detectors for about $50 each. I tried to take them up on it but they said they could only do one of them. 2 X50's, 1 was blue the other red diodes. This was not the first time they had said they could not do something. So I finally told them you can only say no to a customer so many times. My next detector will probably be a Valentine I.

There are a few great detectors out there now, so it depends on where and how you drive as to what is best for your needs.
If you drive a lot in a metro area where there can be an abundance of false radar signals (door openers, alarm systems, etc) then one with GPS capabilities might be best for your needs. These would all be by Bel/Escort and include the 9500ci, 9500ix, STi-R Plus and the new IQ.
If you travel predominately on the Interstates then raw sensitivity is what you want and there are four units that excel in this discipline. The best by far is the 9500ci and STi-R Plus, followed by the Escort Redline and the Valentine 1 from Valentine Research.
The 9500ci, STi-R Plus and Redline have surpassed the V1 in raw sensitivity. The V1 does have the arrows to show what direction the threat is in relation to your vehicle and the bogey counter to determine the number of threats being detected. Both are great features. The V1 is also considered the best against quick trigger (QT). QT is when the officer uses the instant on mode in very very short durations. Basically triggering the unit and letting go as fast as possible.
This has advantages for the LEO in that it's hard for detectors to pick up this signal. The disadvantage to this method for the LEO is it's hard to get a reading sometime and the fish slips through the net so to speak.
It also boils down to budget the prices are as follows:
9500ci $1300 to $1600
Redline $499
9500ix $499
STi-R Plus $1200
Escort IQ $650
Valentine 1 $400
Now that we have discussed radar you have 1/2 the problem solved. There is still police laser (Lidar). No detector will save you from laser. It's a line of sight device and can acquire your speed in under one second. No time to react, much less slow down.
Don't fear though as there is a defense for this also, laser jammers. These devices receive the lidar signal, analyzes the beam, determines the correct pulse rate to return to the gun and fires an infrared signal back to the lidar gun. This all happens in less than a 1/10th of a second. Two models that work great are the Blinder M27 and the Laser Interceptor.
The Blinder unit uses LED technology and the Laser Interceptor uses the same laser diode technology as the lidar gun uses.
To tell you the best, I'll tell you what I use on my C6 coupe. For radar I use the 9500ci and the V1. The 9500ci is a remote mount unit with the radar head located in the front air intake area. It's an amazing unit! I run the V1 in the cockpit to give me directional info and QT protection. For lidar protection I run the Laser Interceptor High Power laser jammer. The high power version uses 2 laser diodes versus one diode in the standard model. The HP version has one laser diode oriented vertically and one oriented horizontally. Totally bullet proof setup. It's not cheap but neither are speeding tickets.
Now you have all the info you need to pick what will serve you best.
One advantage with the Valentine One is the level of information it transfers to the DashTronix Radar Projector, much more than the Escort. Watching both videos, I'm glad I'm using the V1. Also, I never knew how annoying the alarm is on the Escort. Geeesh! What a terrible sound
Cordless typically have sensitivity problems. In order to save battery life the don't scan as frequently as a powered detector and can miss quick or low powered alerts.
Get a good powered detector, they are still easy to move between vehicles.

The 9500ci is really expensive. It seems like the valentine 1 is the next best and can be hard wired. Can you hard wire the escort redline ? I guess anything is better then nothing. I have a cop being a real ***** regarding tint windows, no front plate etc. It pissed him off that I knew alot of people so he said he would pull me over doing 31 in a 30 !!! I am in trouble !!! Thanks Most cops were really nice that pulled me over. They loved my car !!!
I also have a 2010 GS Vert. I did alot of research but everyone has different needs and opinions. I have a Valentine one radar detector. I use a Blend Mount mounting device on the mirror. I also have an invisicord that connects from the detector to the mirror so cord does not show. Best setup for me. Works great.
