Default GM Console Cover / lid ?

Does anyone have any experience or opinion on the Genuine GM

Console cover / lid.

It is described as soft leather with C6 emblem embroidered.

Is there much / enough padding to make it worthwhile?

Thanks for your input!

I have one, it looks good better than the stock with just SLIGHTLY more padding. If you are looking for one with enough padding to really make a difference this is not the one.

Go to Down South Vettes, a lot more money but well worth it!

I bought a two tone cover for my C5 from Mid America. Took forever to receive it, but it looks great and has three times the original padding. Might work for you? Good Luck.

I bought a similar item from them, one color. I was luckier, it was in stock immediately.

You install it yourself over the existing "door", that takes a few minutes and is kind of a pain to get the lines correctly oriented. But it looks good and i was able to add even more padding under it during the installation- used a piece from a 1/8" thick yoga mat.

The MA console cover is also a nice match for their storage bag that sits on the rear of the console- good place to keep kleenex, sunblock, etc. Pricey but worth it, IMHO.

EDIT-
Our car actually had the GM accessory console lid when it was sitting on the lot, but i had them take it off (and reduce the price) before delivery. As divilin said, not much more padding; and I was afraid the stitched Corvette insignia would get frayed from my arm rubbing on it. Not sure if the frayed insignia has turned out to be an issue for owners.

I got this one from corvettemods. Well worth the price. Fits good and thick padding.

I had the GM leather wrapped console with the C6 logo on it. Truthfully, it was just the stock console with some thin leather glued to it and wrapped around under the bottom. It's as hard as the stock one, but looks a bit better. I am definitely going with DSV this time around.

Corvettemods and Mid America look identical, prices seem similar.

I have one of the GM accessory lids. The leather is soft but it has no padding at all.

I took mine to an upholstery shop who charged me less than 15 bucks to remove it, add some thin foam, and re-staple it. Took care of the thin padding. And if you're so inclined, forum member Ray Kawal has a how-to to do this on his web site (and here somewhere).

It looks nice but the rough polyester stitching of the emblem is right where your arm/elbow goes. That I don't like.
