Yes, if it's OE and your car is still in 3yr/36k mi warranty, any Chevy dealer, but buy one that didn't come in the car and your car is out of warranty, ROTS O RUCK !!!

Walmart - no hassle warranty any store in the country.

Any battery that can be warrantied where ever you travel is what I would look for.

My OE Delco failed 6 months past the warrantee, conveniently....

I bought an Optima for my C5 and had the battery for less than a year when I sold the car to a friend in South Dakota. It failed him within 6 months and had to be replaced. I'm not sure what brand he bought but it wasn't an Optima.

I also have a 06 and have not seen on indications that there is a problem with the battery. My 04 Lexus ES330 is still on the original and seems ok but I've been debating whether to replace it as a precautionary measure.

Googled "Delco Battery Warranty", went to the Delco website, warranty section:
"...the battery should be returned to the place of purchase or any ACDelco battery retailer..."

Just got back from the Chevy dealer a few hours ago. They put in a new AC Delco battery in my 07 vert. The old battery was fine, but I thought I was pushing my luck, by not replacing now. It has a 6 year pro-rated warranty.
Yesterday I replaced my Ac Delco battery in my CTS, that lasted 5 years. Luckily it would not turn over in the garage. I trickled charged it and got it to the dealer for replacement.
Oh, the cadillac tax is way larger than the corvette tax. I was surprised about that.

Unfortunately the reality is that you will be unsuccessful in any attempt trying to return it or get any warranty on a Delco battery from anywhere other than the place of original purchase.

When I had the issue I called Delco, and they were absolutely no help and stated the only place that would warranty it was with the original receipt at the place of original purchase. They had no ability to get assistance from any of their dealers...period.

Never again will I buy a Delco batterty because I want a battery to be warrantied when necessary where ever the brand I buy is sold. Delco is not, whereas other brands most surely are without any hassle.

Granted it was a long time ago, but I bought a used car which had a Delco, which went bad. I warranteed it at Montgomery Wards, which sold Delco. Of course I had no paperwork on it, but they used the date stamped into the case as the 'sale date' and pro-rated the purchase of a new battery.

I really think any Delco retailer would do the same. Many parts stores sell Delco batteries.

And, what's with the 'one month out of warranty'? Your are probably talking about the 2/3 year 100% replacement warranty. Don't you people know all batteries have a 48/60/72/84 month extended pro-rated warrenty?????

Granted, when you get several years into these time periods, a pro-ration would probably not be the best choice for getting a new battery because the pro-ration is always done aganist full, retail amount. But, if you are 4 years or so into a 72/84 month battery, you should at least see what the price would be in a warranty case.

I went through all of that, Chevrolet even gave me the 800 number to Delco to try to get assistance from Delco with the date code and trying to find a dealer while I was travelling, but the battery is not covered by other Delco dealers other than from the original selling Delco dealer because of how they are reimbursed when they encounter a bad battery...Delco did not have any assistance to offer, no help and no authority to warranty it at any Delco dealer other than the original selling dealer.

Call Delco's 800 number to find this to be true and accurate. If you bought it at one of the auto parts chain stores and had your receipt in the car with you, or never travel and are close to where you bought it you'd be ok. But travelling you're SOL...

You should be all over Delco's butt to get a direct rebate because of this. Referring to another's posting, their online warranty info states any retail outlet should warranty a battery.

My understanding is that there are only a few companies that make all of these batteries like Exide, Johnson, and some others I can't remember at the moment. Even the Wally World battery got high recommendations.

That said, lots of folks here will recommend the battery *they* bought. Truth be told, almost any battery of the correct size will work just fine. As far as I can tell, the only significant differences among the available batteries are those designed to survive deep discharges and those that are not. Reserve capacity, cold cranking amps, and the other tech specs promoted in advertisements probably don't matter all that much for someone living in a mild climate like the Bay Area.
  • If your car is a daily driver (DD) or you regularly use your battery tender to keep your battery topped up, then almost any battery will do the job.
  • If you don't drive your car very much and don't user your battery tender, I'd strongly recommend you get both an Optima Yellow Top and a regular battery charger. The electrical demands of your car while parked in your garage could discharge your battery completely in 2-3 weeks.
The battery that fits the best would be fine and if it's lighter that's even better. Corvette has space limitations and can make life difficult if things don't fit correctly or you have to do too many modifications to make the battery fit.

06 here, Just started to get the "No Fob detected" more and more over the last month or so, I still had original battery so I figured it's time to replace, Went to Sears, got the Die Hard Gold, fitment was right on, as per their battery guide for the model and year, . My car does sit for weeks at a time depending on my schedule, I do like Sears for their guarentee, I have burned thru at least 5 batteries for my Dodge 1500 which also sits depending on my schedule as well, Sears has always backed up their warrenties with full replacement, which is why I give them my buisness. The vette so far no issues with the new battery, good luck with your choice, By the way visit the Sticky, "How to index windows" this information is spot on

Might the problem here be that your FOB needs the new battery replacement instead?

I rarely keep my Vettes long enough to need a new battery, but the one on my '07 was getting weak if the car was not driven every few days, so I bought new Diehard yesterday. Sears was the only one (other than the dealer) who had one in stock that would fit. It was $125.00, but they wanted $60 to install It! I popped the old one out, brought it to them for disposal, and put the new one in myself. I think it took three minutes to install....MAYBE four. $60....what a joke. This one should last me until the C7.

Had an 84 BMW 633 5 speed manual that I was restoring, and had some off brand battery in it when I bought it, put an Interstate in it as one of the first things I did. Drove it for a year then it sat for over a year in the driveway unattended. When I finally got around to it, it cranked the engine like the battery was fresh. Kept the car for another three years and never had any issues with the battery.
I don't know why people screw around with Optima's, Delco's, and any other off brand that all seem to fail in 2-5 years. Buy an Interstate and you can forget your battery issues for a long time.
Don't work for them, just know a good thing when I see it.

What would the reason be? Just the name? Or is the battery a difficult task to remove and replace?

I would recommend a Sears Platinum Battery that's what I run in my Vette.

As far as a 7 year Delco battery...I wouldn't waste my money on one of these. Had one go bad on my dd, bought new. Car is used everyday and it went south without any warning with only 36m miles on it, but 4 years old. Bought it back to the dealer but they wouldn't give me a dime for it since 7 year warranty only applies to purchased batteries, not new car battery.
Replaced that one with a Sears Diehard, not the best but ok for the money.
