Got a brand new GS today. After driving it around all day, I was gonna leave my buddy's house and the car doesn't start. When I press the start button it makes a weird little tick noise. Car goes into accessory mode and then when I click the start button again it shuts off accessory mode. Tried both fobs. Tried inserting fobs into slot inside of glove compartment. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes, plugged it back in and then tried again. Still got nothing...what can it be???
Needless to say call the dealership and let them deal with it. Is this brand new or has it been at the dealership for a while. The tick tick yick makes me think that the battery is the problem. Maybe its just not putting out enough volts. Let the dealership figure it out. The sooner the better. I went thru a no start problem on my 09 recently. There are so many possibilities. Get the dealer involved. They will send out a flat bed to get it back to the dealership. They might even try to jump start it first. Sorry to hear this happened on your brand new car. Good Luck...
I had that happen to my 09. It turned out to be from an electrical interference caused by aftermarket lights. Maybe it as simple as your phone or laptop or something along those lines.
Sounds like dead battery to me. The ACC items will still work even if the batt is too low to crank the engine over. Low batt sounds more like a loud CLACK CLACK CLACK than a tick tick tick though.
Sounds stupid, but the first time I got into my vette my dad couldn't figure out how to start it up for like 15 minutes. (This was before I had my license.) Apparently it had been a long time since he had driven a manual car and forgot.
Make sure you're holding down the clutch when you hit the start button or it will do exactly what you're describing.
I think the ticking has something to do with the car trying to find the fob? At least mine always has these faint ticking noises when doing anything that requires the fob if you listen really closely.

good advice.. happened to me before too.. was some kind of transmitter on a pole overhead.. i had to hold the fob right up by the start button.
This is gonna sound real dumb but you are pushing the top part of the start button, right? What you describe sounds like exactly what happens when you push the bottom half of the start button.
Did you get it started yet? If not "IF" I remember correctly my 96 had a switch that would shut off the fuel pump if the car was struck hard in the rear.. I could be wrong ???? I don't know about the C6 but if all other electrical things work i.e. lights horn, etc.. maybe the fuel pump is shut off...

Sorry guys, should have given more detail. This is my third corvette. I did all the obvious things such as pressing the clutch while trying to start it. I know my way around these cars pretty well. I tried both fobs, normally and inside the slot in the glove and got nothing. Disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected it and nothing. Seems strange to me that the battery would be the culprit because everything else powers up with no problem. Headlights, radio, A/C, interior lights and everything else were working. When I would push the ignition button it seemed like everything would shut down and then a few seconds later, everything would light up again, the gauge needles would sweep and the car would be in accessory mode. At that point, if I pressed the ignition switch again, same thing would happen.
Yesterday, I finally finished up the the deal in which I was working with GM to trade in my LEMON tahoe for the brand new GS and then this BS happens the first day....I'm losing my patience with GM, to say the least.

When I bought mine, it behaved exactly like this at the dealer. They installed a new battery and its never had another problem starting in 3 years and 25K miles.

Too many have reported the same symptoms here before they replaced the battery. It evidently takes lots of voltage to start the C6s.
Get it to the dealer and let him see if it's the battery.
