The C6 is a better handling and higher performance car than the C5.

The c6 is the better car in almost every department:

-Better Performance
-Better Motor
-Better Handling
-Better Ride Quality
-Better Exhaust Note
-More Fun to Drive (in my opinion)
-Better looking (although subjective)
-Better Grip
-Better Brakes
-Better Safety
-Better Comfort features

The icing on the cake is that its simply newer and more refined. Im amazed at how far cars have come in the last 10 years. And your first c5 is nearly 13 years old, which is halfway to a classic, but while I own a 1983 trans am, a 2002 trans am and ss camaro, and a 2011 corvette grand sport and a 2011 hyundai sonata. I will be buying brand new from now on. You might as well take advantage of todays aspiring technology. This isn't to say the c5 isn't an amazing machine, its just not as good as the c6 and thats no fault to it at all. Its simply applause to GM for stepping it up each generation and making a better corvette.

Just my 2 cents. If you can afford an ls3 c6, get it. If you can go beyond that and want the best vette ever made, get the c6 z06. Yes the zr1 is another animal, but that 427 is just something else and is American Muscle at its finest.

Never even sat in a C5, or even know any one who would let me drive one. My opinion is only regarding this... The C6 looks better.

Generally, newer cars improve on older cars' shortcomings.

...just sayin.

nowhere do i see "better mileage" on a C6 ... not knocking the car but C5's are better on fuel.... no?

The C6 has less drag, so better mileage. Mileage is not a issue with the C6 though. I dont care how much fuel I use.

350 hp for the last C5 versus 430/436 hp for the current C6 explains the mpg difference.

The c6 gets just as good if not better gas mileage than the c5. It all depends on how you drive it though. I can easily get 21-22 mpg around town in my GS if I want to, but when playing around I average about 17-19 mpg. However when it comes to these cars, im not worried about gas mileage, I have another car for that. These cars are meant to have fun in and enjoy driving, and when your worried about gas mileage you can't really do that. That said, these cars are amazing to get 30 on the highway with as much power as they have.

I really loved my C5 and C5Z but the C6 is just a better car. It represents a bunch of improvements over the C5 in power, handling, features, and build quality.

Ask anything that you want. The forum is here for a reason. If you want to learn ask question nothing such as a stupid question.

I would hope for Corvette-sake that each newer Generation out performs the previous..just natural progression of things.

I am a HUGE fan of the C5 myself, was my first vette and had it for 8 years, great car. The only reason I got into a C6 Z06 and sold my C5 was because the prices were so good on C6Z and the bang for buck is huge, otherwise I would still have my C5 today.

While I'm sure the C5 is a fine car, and I know that we who have the C6 are indebted to all the fine work done to develop the C5, I just never warmed up to the design of the C5. I've never personally liked it or ever had the desire to buy one.

When the C6 came out, I fell in love. It is just a better car all around and will go down as a well-loved classic in Corvette history.

I cannot wait for the first person to say the C5 is better in those categories or any category...because everybody else will think.......errr......know they are jealous c5 owners, fools or clearly uneducated ignorants.

TysonJones in post #3 summed it up quite well. I own an '00 C5 and an '08 C6. Which one do I drive ALL the time? The C6. 345 vs. 436 horsepower. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I still love the old C5 though. My first Corvette and all that goes with that.
