Default sta-fast tops

i have seen abbrasions on the exterior of the sta-fast tops, my '93 ruby red had them on the top and they were quite noticable, never could figure out how to stop the problem, are the C6 tops developing the same problem?

Are you referring to the fabric used in the C6 convertible top? I've not seen it called "sta-fast", but a Google search for that term turned up discussions about Z28 Camaro convertible tops.

If your 93 suffered from abrasions, I would suspect that their most likely primary cause would be (a) worn, misaligned, or damaged bows/links, or (b) an inherently flawed mechanical design. Either could cause binding, crimping, or rubbing of the fabric during raising & lowering.

Small liner tears have been reported by some owners. A few others have complained about visible creases immediately after raising their tops. If I recall correctly there was a recent TSB to correct a problem with locking brackets (in 08 and 09?). Overall, though, the C6 convertible top has been a remarkably successful and trouble-free design. The fabric is easy to keep clean and new looking. Compared to coupes, convertibles are noticeably quieter with the top up and have not suffered from any delamination or separation of the top (in flight, or otherwise).

yes i believe the industry name for the material in the Convert tops is "sta-fast" at least that's the term used for canvas replacement tops on mid year vets and old T-birds etc. My '93 only had 22,000 miles on it when i sold it last year, the top worked perfectly up and down with ease and was not left down when the car was not in use so it was a concern because of early degredation of the material in a few spots. I am retired now and my next Vet will likely be a C6 and it will be getting a lot more use than my '93 did hence the inquiry...thanks for your input
