Default Pull down for a vert?

Can you add a Trunk pull down from a coupe to work on a vert?

Actually I'd rather have a "push-up". The release spring on mine just isn't strong enuf to push the latch free without a little finger prying at the corner.

Yes. Do a search on trunk pull down. BEZ06, Bob did his using most of my parts.

Not to sound obvious but generally a good lube and a little adjusting is all it needs. My truck will POP up about an inch. Now my C5 was a different story. Even had the little spring helper on it and no help...

That's true, correct adjustment and lubrication of friction points allows my vert trunk to completely latch with only the slightest push from the fully open position and also pop up an inch or so when I push the button by the license plate. But Bob, BEZ06 has put the pull down mechanism on his Z06 which did not come with it originally. He did a thread with many of his usual detailed photos and a description of the procedure. It looked like a significant job.

It may not be the spring keeping the trunk deck from popping up. I used the little red tip nozzle on a can on WD-40 and sprayed it way down on the actuator plunger and after that the deck popped right up every time.

Like RLSebring and cclive said, I did it on my '06 Z06. Up until 2009, the Z06 had the manual latch like in the trunk of a vert.

Take a look at this thread:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...ear-hatch.html

You'll read in there that I actually got the auto pull down latch from RLSebring - thanks Robert!!

Like Chris, cclive, said, it wasn't exactly a plug-n-play project, but if you can find a latch with a nice pigtail of harness it's not too bad of a job. I definitely think a used latch out of a salvage vehicle would be a lot better than trying to get all new parts together from a dealer. The harness I got from Robert had all the connectors so it wasn't bad to splice like color wires together. It would be much more difficult to try to get the connectors new and figure out which wires you need to hook up to which pin/slot on the connetors.

Good luck, and if you do get into the project and have any questions, give a holler!!

Bob

I had a '09 Vert same thing....I thought something was wrong with it because my buddy had a '04 (C5) vert and it came up about half inch. The pull down on my '10 Z06 sometimes does not go all the way down but I figured out why w/help of forum member....BEZ06

release height is good on mine. Just thought it might be nice not to slam, or have to push down on the deck lid. Always liked the Caddy's pull down.
