My '08 had a crack in the dash when I bought it, didnt really notice it till after I brought it home. Probably wouldnt have stopped me from buying it anyway as I got a killer deal, but is there anyway to fix this??
I bought a kit for a door panel crack on my '74 but never did it & not sure if it would come out great on the 08 dash... I prefer to have it done professionally so as to hope it comes out like it is unnoticeable...
SUGGESTIONS!???
Not aware of anyone reporting a repair. There are materials available for such repairs. The difficulty is in matching the texture while the repair dries. Maybe check with some upholstery shops in your area.
This won't help you but I remembered this thread from last year when I saw your pics.
Thanks for the reply RickT... I actually found that thread in a search but seemed like he never found a definitive fix :-/ it def is interesting that its in same spot as his!
thats the best I could think of, like u said checking out some upholstery or interior shops... Maybe a leather repair shop?
If the car is still under the b to b,that should cover it.Otherwise, ask the dealer who they use for leather/vinyl/plastic fixes in their cars.
It is actually still bumper to bumper, you think that's something they will acttually cover & not claim is wear & tear or that I damaged it!? And you believe that the dealer will get it installed good & not have rattles & stuff???
I also have a very small crack in the middle "stitching", just above the a/c vent. I pointed it out to my service writer and had him make a note on a repair order for another issue. I chose not to have any repair/replacement done unless the crack migrates, which the SM agreed to.
I just could not justify (comfortably) having the dash torn out for a new cover.

If they won't cover it under warranty, call JDK Dent Busters. They are in Medford.

Well,if they cover the battery (they do) and don't consider that wear and tear, and they cover the seat bolster wearing out (they do),I think they'd cover the dash too.Not like you beat the dash with a bat or something, right? Doesn't hurt to ask them. Can't say about the rattles and all that,I don't know how good their work is.
I'd have them do it were it my car though!
Use the warranty!!!! If the dash rattles afterwards keep taking it back until it doesn't.
Everyone always recommends DIY even when under warranty. GM must love Vette owners. Not only do we buy one of their higher priced cars, but we don't want to use the warranty when something breaks because we are afraid the dealer won't get it right.
If I had done that during my recent issue, I would have spent money on a new battery and over $200 for a new battery cable! Instead it was 100% covered and the dealer did just fine.

Again, USE THE WARRANTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If not, go to Down South Vettes and get a leather custom dash.
